2. AIR
Was that you who called my love,
Or somebody else I knew?
From the past I can't remember,
In the future, blind from view.
And though I breathe your soothing essence,
My heart has stopped to beat;
For nay I know the woman
That my mind, my soul do keep!
You're everybody's friend and neighbor,
Transparent as the isinglass.
You could sail the ships in harbor,
Or meekly bend a blade of grass.
Without you, I have no power,
But then I hold you not;
You can' t promise me forever
And I don't promise you a lot.
I see you in my everyday,
Be I look straight ahead
Our eyes didn't meet in anyway,
Nor even shared my bed.
But such is the longing
For a dream that didn't come true;
For I won't spare a day of living
Without the thought of you.
So, promise me tomorrow
Although it never comes,
Or take a vow of forever,
So there we can hold hands.
For in my case, oh dying air
I save my one last breath;
Oh lady mine, Oh lady fair
I'll love you till my death.
So may you ask if I have known you
As me you have known not,
Never a friend, never a lover
A dream that came to pass!
