It was the start of a new day and the winners of the 74th annual hunger games were busy finishing their tour, mourning over the previous tributes that were sacrificed for their individual districts.
Katniss and Peeta still could not forget the pain and strife they suffered from, let alone their fellow adversaries that were put to death by government customs. Katniss felt the games were nothing but evidence of the true barbaric nature the people in the Capital have put off as a law.
Even the people in district one who tune in to watch the hunger games are nothing to her but monsters who care nothing for the lives of innocent children and abuse them as a simple form of entertainment. Bloodshed and mind control are all the capital care about? Those power hungry tyrants... Katniss thought to herself whilst entering the eleventh district. Peeta had finished reading his part of his speech and it was her turn to speak.
At first she did not want to say her part of the speech, but she turned and saw Rue's eldest sister. Her face was the spitting image of the young girl. Katniss felt obligated to speak on behalf of her fallen comrade. "I hear her in the mocking jay's song. I see her in my sister Prim. I see her by the fields of flowers by my house. She was too young, too gentle. I'm sorry." The last of the archer's speech created a stir in the crowd as many citizens rose their hands and put three fingers to their lips, rising them to the air as a form of rebellion against the capital.
She felt her heart race when one of the citizens was pulled from the hoard of people, feeling it drop when the peacekeepers brought the man to his knees and killed him at gunpoint. "NO!" She screamed before the bullet shot through him, causing more peacekeepers to herd her and the others back into the building.
