*Hello passengers, this is your Captain speaking. We will be taking off shortly and ask that you please make your way to your seat and strap in.* The announcement rang overhead.

I had finally settled into my seat and was just beginning to start up a movie when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Hi, I think my seat is the one next to yours, I just need to scooch by." A girl about my age whom I had never seen before said, while indicating to my feet propped up on the back of the seat in front of me, blocking her path to the window seat.

"Oh, sorry, my bad." I apologized while bringing my feet back to the ground and allowing her entry.

"Thanks," she said as she squeezed by me into her seat. "My name's Faith."

"Hi," I replied. "I'm Nicole."

She placed her backpack on the ground by her feet before lifting up the shade over the window.

"It's such a nice day. I hope it's this nice in Paris when we land." She said while gazing out the window.

"There could be a tsunami going on in Paris and I'd still be happy just to say I'm actually there." I said and we both laughed.

"True, true. Have you ever been?" she asked, "this is my first time ever leaving the country."

I shook my head. "I've never been to any part of Europe. I'm so excited."

I don't know why I was making conversation so easily with Faith despite my vow to just focus on this trip. I think I realized that after I left Ethan, it's kind of scary and intimidating to be travelling alone, with no one next to you. So I may be stretching my promise to myself out just a little bit and making a couple of friends.

"Me too," she said. "I can't wait to go to some of the restuarants there."

Just as I was about to agree with her, a voice popped up behind us. And I instantly recognized it.

"I have a few suggestions for some great restaurants." Ethan interjected. "I've been to Paris my fair share and I know plenty. Even a good amount of, romantic ones, you could say." He added while looking down at me.

Faith's gaze switched between Ethan and I before asking, "Do you two know each other?"

I rolled my eyes, "We talked for a bit before we boarded."

Before Ethan could say anything a flight attendant popped up beside him. "Sir, you need to take your seat now. We're about to take off."

"Okay, fortunately my seat is right here next to one of my new friends." He said before dropping himself into the seat across the aisle from me.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes again. I was just beginning to be open to the idea of making friends on this trip but Ethan was making it clear that he had a bigger intention than friends. And that was completely out of the question.

"Hi, I'm Faith Goodwin." Faith said after a moment of silence, smiling over at Ethan.

"Ethan Cartello." He replied waving over to her.

Faith turned her attention back out the window while putting headphones into her ears. Leaving me and Ethan alone again and for me to fend for myself.

He opened his mouth to speak but before he could say anything, another announcement came on.

*Ladies and gentlemen we are now taking off. Everyone is required to remain in their seats until told otherwise. Please see a flight attendant if you need help with anything*
