The heart monitor stopped it's rhythm as the sounds emitting from it became irregular. The nurse on duty dropped the sponge she was holding and pressed the button above the patient's bed, alerting more doctors.
He woke up.
Jungkook had finally awoken.
His eyes were open and a confused look was planted on his face, but he was awake.
He stared inquisitively at the nurse in front of him, both of them frozen in shock.
More doctors burst into the room, wheeling equipment.
"Stay calm."
"We are here to help"
"Don't worry"
The doctors tried to calm him down but his reaction was different than they had expected.
Jungkook laughed.
He let out a long chuckle before telling them "You know, what you are saying does the opposite of calming someone down"
They all stared at him in complete shock.
All of the doctors left apart from one.
"Jungkook, I know you might be a bit confused, but I'm here to explain your situation and check up on you. When is your date of birth?"
Jungkook thought long and hard but failed to remember such a fact.
He shook his head to signal that he didn't know.
"Do you have any memory at all from a week ago?"
Yet again Jungkook shook his head, a pout on his lips and a slightly frightened, frustrated expression on his face.
The doctor looked worriedly at his patient.
"Jungkook, you were in a coma for a week. We just need to run a few more tests to check if you have memory loss or brain damage as a result of this. Is it okay if we run these tests?"
Jungkook yet again shook his head to say no.
The doctor sighed and just left.
Then realisation hit Jungkook.
The fact that he was in a coma.
The fact that he had no idea where his parents were.
The fact that he couldn't remember anything from his past.
But worst of all, the fact that he was alone.
