Departing after Destruction

Shortly after the destruction of Sunnydale, and the death of Spike, Buffy and her friends took a bud and ended up in L.A. Months later the team split up. Xander and Willow decided to move together further down California; but not before Willow gave angel one last gift. Using all the magic that she posses she took away Angel's curse. Giles was called back to London with the principle and Faith to help find new watchers and the remaining slayers. The slayers who survived went back home to their homes but was kept under special watch. Andrew found a job in Virginia as head of a comic shop. Buffy and Dawn stayed with Angel in L.A. A month later Buffy began getting morning sickness and headaches. She soon figured it out. She was pregnant but who did the baby belong to? Another month went by and her stomach started to grow. She couldn't fight anymore because Angel was scared that she would end up getting hurt or the baby would. So Angel took care of supernatural problems that were occurring in the area. Angel took care of Buffy and Dawn and soon they had a new house South of L.A. in preparation for the baby. They set the baby's room up in bright colors of greens, yellows and light blues. Soon Dawn was off and attending college in Chicago while Buffy and Angel grew excited of the child. The last few weeks of Buffy's pregnancy came by and all was good. It seemed like everything was calm. 

Finally, the day had come when the baby was going to be born. Angel waited patiently in the hallway when he got a call; it was from Giles. 

"Hello?" 

"Angel, there is a serious threat coming your way. A group called the Resurrection is planning on bringing back the first evil. I sent Faith to stop them but she's gone missing. If they succeed at bringing back the first evil you and Buffy may not be able to defeat them a second time. 

"I understand." He sighed. Angel returned his phone to his pocket and got up. He was about to leave when a nurse came out of the room.

"Congratulations, it was a healthy delivery. You may go inside and visit the child now." She smiled and left the room. He anxiously walked into the room and saw Buffy holding the baby and crying. She looked up at him and smiled.

"Its a baby girl." Angel walked over and looked at the baby, it was one of the smallest things he had ever seen. 

"Would you want to hold her Angel?" He backed away.

"Buffy I can't." She got up and walked over to him.

"You're not going to hurt her, you just hold her like..." 

"Buffy! I can't... Giles called me. There's trouble in L.A.; big trouble. A group called the Resurrection, they are trying to bring back the first evil and I need to stop them before they do." 

Buffy placed her child down and grabbed her jacket and began placing it on. "Well, let's go." 

Angel stopped her. "Buffy, no! What are you doing? You just gave birth, you are too weak to fight." She put on her boots. 

"If Faith didn't make it then the responsibility falls on me. I am the only trained Slayer and if they end up resurrecting the first evil then I will be held responsible by the counsel for every life killed. I am doing this Angel and you can't stop me." Angel placed his hands on her shoulders and pulled her in for a hug.

"You have another responsibility now, as a mother. You haven't even picked out a name for her yet?" Buffy pulled away from Angel and stared her at now sleeping child. 

"She is the light of my world and as peaceful as the night sky. I think your name little one, will be Luna."  She kissed the forehead of her sleeping child and walked over to the door. "She is not safe as long as there are demons out in this world that wish to harm her. I assure you that after tonight I will no longer be the Vampire Slayer." Angel let go of her arm and sighed as she walked down the hallway. Angel looked into the bed of the sleeping child and then sat in a chair across from the cradle.

Buffy pulled out her phone and called Giles, "Hello? Giles this is Buffy. Where can I find this group called the Ressurection?" She nodded and the put the phone in her pocket. "The graveyard should've known." Left behind before she left were her black leather jacket and a note that said, "Keep this with you always, in case I don't return. I love you, Luna."
