Chapter 1

Layla & nellie ^

This is the last thing i need. Getting fired from this crap diner was the last thing i needed how am i gonna be able to pay for my overpriced cat food and my bills. I mean yeah i barely put an effort into my job because my boss was rude and my co workers seemed to hate me but this was my only source of income wether i liked it or not.

   Diana the only co worker i get along with comes up to me casually with a faint look of pity on her face, i guess she heard "hey Layla i heard what happened is there anything thing i can do ? Maybe i can talk to the boss" , rolling my eyes in my head i say it's okay Diana I'm just gonna have to find somewhere else to work, i said while taking off my striped uniform "okay well call me if you ever need anything". I don't have much to bring with me so i grab my purse and walk out of the crusty diner and into the cold, musty air of the Bronx , the diner wasn't far from where i lived so i started walking , all i want to do right now was curl up with my cat Nellie , eat vanilla ice cream and watch Netflix , my problems can wait till tomorrow.

    Finally making it up to my dingy one bed room apartment i see Nellie laying on the floor playing with her favorite ball. Hey Nell i said while picking her up she scratches me on my arm reminding me that her nails need to be cut which reminds me that she needs to go to her annual check up at the vet which then reminds me I'm jobless. Putting her down i sigh, walking into my room i see that's it's a mess as usual and i change into my pajamas. I pick up my cheap cell phone and call my best friend Thea, she picks up almost instantly , " hey Layla what's up" nothing much i lost my job today though i say while sitting on my bed " omg seriously that's crazy but  your boss sucked anyways , you should come work at my work place my CEO needs an assistant". I don't know Thea i don't even think I'm qualified to be an assistant literally i can't even handle being a waitress. " it's no big deal just come by my work place tomorrow and you can see if you want to work here plus it would be fun to work here together anyways". Alright i guess , I'll come by tomorrow and with that's i hung up thinking about tomorrow hopefully I'm able to apply cause i seriously need a job.

    After feeding Nellie i tie my long jet black hair into a low bun get the ice cream out of my fridge and started watching pretty little liars.

I wake up early excited about seeing Thea and her work place , walking into the small bathroom i shower and do the rest of my hygiene routine. I straighten my wavy jet black hair , curl my long lashes and put on minimal mascara then i add some concealer and blush. Since I'm just scoping out the place and visiting Thea i decide i can wear something casual , i put on black jeans and a form fitting grey shirt. I text Thea for the jobs name and address, hey Thea what's the name of your work place ? While waiting for a reply i feed Nellie and pack a couple of essentials in my purse then i get a text back, The name is KING inc. I put on some sandals then make my way down stairs and out of my apartment building, i call for a cab. When i open the cab door the driver says " where to miss", "KING inc. please", he nods his head and starts the drive we drive for about 30 minutes and i see that that the scenery drastically changes from my run down area to uptown where everyone has nice homes and nice cars .

    The driver stops in front of a extremely tall, expensive glass building, i pay him and quickly get out making sure i have my purse. The front doors of the building quickly slides open and inside is stunning and so pristine , i would never imagine myself being at such a nice place. After gawking at how beautiful it was i spotted Thea quickly, she's a receptionist and right now she was on the phone , her eyes connected with mine , she smiled talked for a little more on the phone then abruptly hung up the phone, "hey Layla !" She says while getting up , "hey Thea i missed you , this place is so nice."  She flips her light brown , medium length hair over her shoulder and says " it's so awesome here , seeing as how nice it looks maybe that will encourage you to apply , i can get your paper work started  right now because tomorrow they are holding interviews." I take another look around then back at Thea and she looks so happy plus i really need a job so i tell her okay and she immediately walks back to her luxurious reception desk and pulls up the application .

    Twenty minutes later I'm done filling out the application i say bye to Thea telling her I'll see her tomorrow for the interview and  i get up getting ready to walk outside. Everything suddenly become quiet and when i look up the most stunning man walks through the door he's radiating power and he looks expensive, everyone whose working seems scared and i just might be too . The mysterious man looks down at his very expensive watch then back up and straight into my eyes , he stops walking and i quickly get nervous and look away but i can still feel his eyes on me so i quickly grab my purse and make my way outside towards the door without wishing Thea a good bye.
