i'm currently at a denny's waiting for a killer to walk in here. i haven't slept in some days, so i was hopefully correct on where i tracked him this time. i heard the bell jingle and i threw my hood over my curly black hair and hopped off my seat, catching my partners attention.
i grabbed him by the wrist, twisted his arm behind his back and pinned him against a wall (;)). my partner, andy, handcuffed him and gave him the officer speech we were forced to learn in school.
"anthony sanchez, charged with a second degree murder." i said to nobody in particular.
"what? no, his name is jeremy. he was coming over for an interview. he seemed like a nice person." said a man with brown-ish hair and blue-green eyes. i smirked at him. the audacity of regular people sometimes.
"he killed his wife over in Illinois and came over here to California. he was most likely coming over to kill you all as well. detective diaz. or just cameron." i said, showing him my badge. i looked around as he apologized and blushed. there was one kid that was familiar.
"a-andrew? andrew siwiki? we went to school together," i said, causing him to look up at the use of his name.
"cam-cam?" i sighed at his nickname for me. "you've changed, man."
he pulled me in for a hug after getting out of the booth. he was taller and his voice wasn't cracking as much. he pulled back and i ruffled his hair; i was still taller than him, even though i was younger.
"let me introduce you to my friends. that's shane, morgan, ryland and garrett. guys, this is cameron. he went to high school with me. he skipped a couple grades, so he managed to get in my advanced classes." he seemed proud.
"skipped a couple grades? how old are you, cameron?" Garrett asked. i smiled; i loved telling people my age, they always seem so surprised.
"i'm twenty-one, the youngest of my department, of the police force, too. i think." i said, playing with the hem of my shirt. shane seemed shocked, and garrett looked cute.
"do you have a place to live, cameron?" ryland asked; he seemed to be the fatherly type. i shrugged.
"i hop houses. here, there, back again. doesn't matter unless i have somewhere to call home."
my partner called me over and i shook andrew's hand, leaving a note i had written when he was talking.
'tell them to meet me at the place for an answer

see, andrew and i had this rendevous spot on the roof of the marriott hotel. we met when i caught him, he was about to jump. .
flashback
i walked upstairs from my hotel room to the roof. i needed to smoke; i was stressed about this stupid case. i opened the door leading to the roof. it was roughly four in the morning, so nobody should be up here.
only there was a guy on the ledge dangling his feet over the balcony. i mustered up what little courage i had at that moment and took a leap if faith.
'a jump like that could be fatal, you know.' i said to the mysterious figure. he let out a chuckle.
'that's kind of the point.' he said scooting microscopically closer to the border.
'tell you what, if i can make you at least smile tonight you don't jump,' i said, taking a seat next to him. 'if i don't, we can jump together.'
he swung his legs over the ledge and i followed. i looked at him and i faintly recognized him.
'i know this really cool ice-cream place down the street.' i said smirking. my stupid puns always got them. i saw him force a frown over his obvious smile. i grabbed his chin gently and tilted his head up to my height.
' you are beautiful. don't you ever, ever let anyone tell you that you aren't'
flashback over
i got an uber and headed over to the marriott, hoping andrew remembered.
