A New Friend

"Shawn! Time to get up or you'll be late for school" said his mom yelling from the kitchen.   "Uuu... Coming mom!" Said Shawn up in his room.

¤Down stairs¤

"Good morning mom," said Shawn.
"Good morning sweetie, did you sleep well?" Asked his mom. "I sleep good. What are you making for breakfast?" Said Shawn hungrily.  "I am making some eggs and bacon," said his mom happy.  "Mmm geat! I love eggs and bacon" he said. "Yes I know," she said.

While Shawn and his mom were eating breakfast they turned on the TV and started watching the news.                 "Good morning everyone welcomes back to your Local News, today we have new Intel, yesterday around 6 p.m. a local group of fishermen was out doing their work when they hit upon a weird-looking creature.

They stated that the creature wanted to stop them from taking the bottlenose dolphin that they also captured. The creature States that it isn't a monster and it calls itself a "Mermaid" the group of fishermen has brought the so-called  "Mermaid" into are National Aquarium where it will be studied and taken care of.

But we still don't know if this creature means harm to us. Or if there is more of them. The creature will be out for exhibit once they say it's safe. Well, that is all for today, Thank for tuning in on your Local News and have a happy Monday."

"How did you hear that sweetie,"  said his mom.  "Yea I sure did," he said worriedly.   "hey isn't that where you work after school?" She said.   "Yes I do work there after school," he said worriedly.  "Talking about the school I'm going to be late!" Shawn said while getting his things together.  "Bye, mom!" Shawn said running out the door.  "Bye!" His mom yelled.

On the way to school, Shawn meets up with his friend Colby. They both work in the Aquarium so they started to talk about the new "Mermaid" that was on the news and what there going to do if they get to see it.  "So your going to ask it if is single?" Said Shawn laughing.  "Yes I am, what's so funny about that?" Said Colby.  "Everything. What if it doesn't talk or doesn't understand you or what if it doesn't have a face or..." Said Shawn but was cut off.  " Shut up! I get it I can't just go and ask it if its single when I haven't even seen It" said Colby smiling. "Great, you finally get it, Mr. Loverboy," said Shawn in a sarcastic voice.  "Hey I'm not the one that walks in a room and steals everyone's girlfriend," said Colby make fun of Shawn. "I don't do such things," Said Shawn with a smirk.  "You do so," said Colby smiling.

Both boys walked all the way to there school Bayside High School the most strict school and the hardest to get in to. Shawn and Colby had almost every single class together. Today was a chill day for then at school but at work was another story.

¤After School¤

They both headed off to work when they enter the aquarium they were stopped by one of the scientists. "Are you two Shawn and Colby?"  She asked.  "Yes," they both answered.  "Ok follow me please," said the scientist. They both followed the scientist outside where the fish tanks were, she then told Colby to feed and watch the fish. And told Shawn to keep following her.

They keep walking down to the second floor into a room we're Shawn knew that there was a huge tank of fishes. Before the scientist opens the door she said "In here we're keeping the creature be careful do not get close to it just look after it. The rest of us scientist or on a break just keep an eye on it. Ok?"  "Ok," said Shawn. He was excited but also scared. The scientist opens the door then Shawn walked in.  "Just keep an eye on it," said the scientist before leaving and closing the door behind Shawn.

He then started to tiptoe his way to a big table in the middle of the room where he saw the creature or so-called "Mermaid." He then stopped because he heard the creature say something.  "Please help. I just want to get out of here. I didn't do anything wrong there's no reason for you to keep me here please I just want to rescue my friend. help me!" Said the Mermaid while crying.  "Hy there," said Shawn trying not to startle the Mermaid.  "Please don't hurt me," Said the Mermaid in a scared voice. "I should be telling you that," said Shawn trying to get closer to her. "What do you mean, why would I hurt you.

Your not with that evil scientist are you?"  She questioned.  "No I'm not but I do work here but I'm only here to watch you not to hurt you." Said Shawn now standing right next to the table.  "I won't hurt you so. Please, can you help me sit up" the Mermaid asked?  "Sure," said Shawn helping her sit up. 

"Well let me introduce myself my name is Scarlet and I am not a monster I am a Mermaid"   "Well my name is Shawn and I'm not here to hurt you, I am here to be your friend," Said Shawn with a warm smile.  "Sure we can be friends," said Scarlet with a Cute smile that made Shawn blush a little.  Scarlet and Shawn spent two hours getting to know each other talking about their families their friends their interests they were having fun. Scarlet was finally calm after all the stuff that had happened to her she was still worried about her friend Coffee but Shawn told her that she is in good hands.

But then everything ended when it was time for the scientist to get back to work Shawn had to say goodbye to Scarlet.  But he promised that they would talk again Shawn also told the scientist to not hurt her and to put her in a tank when they're finished. Scientist listen to Shawn's request and they told him that it would be fine but that he shouldn't trust her because she was still a weird creature. He didn't care about that he trusts her.

Shawn then went back to Colby who was done with all his work an hour ago. "Hey bro where have you been?" Colby said with curiosity. "God, you wouldn't believe me if I told you," Said Shawn well getting ready to leave. "Tell me on the way home I want to know everything," said Colby. On the way back from work Shawn told Colby everything. How Scarlet looked, what she said, how he reacted, everything.
They both reached Shawn's house Colby said goodbye to Shawn. He then headed off home. Shawn came home to his mom Ana and his dad Alex and his sister Veronica. They all sat down for dinner, they were having steak, mashed potatoes, and salad. Then Shawn's older sister Veronica asked:

"Hey, so what happened today at work?"  "It's a long story. You wouldn't believe me if I told you" Said Shawn with a smirk. "What?" Said Veronica. "I made friends with a Mermaid"
