chapter 1 - ? The first attack!

First of all I would like to welcome all to my story about a demon that lives inside a 13 yr old girl. Also this is my first work so if you like it please feel free to comment and vote!

She stood there, watching the waves as they beat on the sand. She often stood like this, alone on the beach with the town behind her. To everyone else, she was a normal 13 year old girl. But she held a dark secret. She is filled with the power of shadow.
Her name is Cristal.
As Cristal looked out to sea she noticed something emerging from the horizon, it looked like a ship. But that can't be a ship, there aren't any ships, no ships have come in years. "Mindy!" Cristal called to her sister. "What is it Cristal?" She said as she ran over. "Look!" Cristal pointed out to the thing on the water.
As it got closer, Mindy saw the markings on the side, glowing purple, otherworldly. "We have to tell the others, now" Mindy started running to Cristal. "But what is it Mindy?" Cristal questioned. "It's a fog ship, it's come to destroy the town and the people, now let's go!" Mindy ran over to Cristal. "No! I won't let it hurt anyone!" Cristal started crying. "There's nothing that can be done but run, please Cristal!" Mindy started pulling Cristal away. "No, I won't let them hurt anyone!" Cristal's voice had gone distorted and deep as if there were two people talking at once.
She pulled away from Mindy and ran to the water. "Cristal NO!" Mindy cried out. But as Cristal reached the water Mindy went silent. Instead of falling into the water as expected Cristal ran atop it, the water seemed to turn into shadow beneath her feet. Shadows seemed to swirl her as she ran into the water. As she slowed the ship started firing. Back to her own voice Cristal screamed. "NO!" Shadows poured forth and formed a barrier and nothing affected it the ship stopped firing.
Cristal absorbed the barrier back into herself, "No more, you will not hurt my friends." The ship accelerated towards her. "Fine, if that's how you want to play" A tendril of pure darkness extended from her arm and shot towards the ship, embedding in the centre of the pros and out stern. She pulled the tendril back and the ship began to sink. As the ship sank, it fired one last shot. But not at the town, at the beach. Cristal tried to use the dark tendril to stop it but it was too late.
The last thing she saw before the explosion, was Mindy's smiling face.
