Silver storm

Chapter 1

"Happy 16th Birthday Rose!!"

I slowly wake up and see my two older brothers standing on either side of my bed. Both holding small boxes in their hands. 

"Here open mine first." Derek  hands me the box that he was holding in his hand. Inside there were gold earrings in the shape of roses. Inside of Ryan's box there was a necklace with a rose charm on it.

"Thank you guys so much. Sometimes it feels you guys are the only ones in the house that ca-" I started to say but was cut off by them hugging me half to death. I suddenly felt my eyes get watery. 

"Arrrgghh!! Get off me, would ya? I gotta get ready, we've still got school today." I say pushing them off and quickly wiping my tears.  I get out of bed and walk into the bathroom. I wash my face and look up at my reflection in disgust, why did i have to look like this? I finish up getting ready and walk into the kitchen. I open up the fridge and grab a cup of yogurt because it was too late to eat anything else. As I was about to head out my father stops me with his booming voice.

"Rose! Come straight home after school. Your present will be arriving at three thirty so you'll only have an hour to get ready." I was in too much of a rush to question what he meant but I gave him a thumbs up and headed for the car where Derek and Ryan were waiting. I was curious if they knew anything about what my father said this morning, so once we go into the car i asked them.

"Earlier, Father told me to come straight home because my 'present is going to arrive'. Do you guys know what he meant by that?" I look up from my yogurt cup and see everyone in the car has gone silent.Even the driver had a nervous look on his face. 

"Um, nope. Got no idea. Ha ha..." Ryan said obviously trying to hide something. I was going to brush it off like it was nothing but if my brothers won't even tell me then something was obviously going on. I wanted to ask more questions but I needed to finish my yogurt before we got to school. 

"Happy Birthday Fool!!" As i get out of the car I see my two best friends Angelica and Vanessa waiting for me in front of the school gate. I get out of the car as fast as I can and run into their arms. They hand me a large box and inside is a brand new sketchbook and pencils.

"Thank you guys so much." I say while I go in for another hug. After I put their present in my bag we start walking into the school. 

"So I heard there's a new transfer student, AND HE'S IN OUR CLASS!!!" Angelica says while twirling around me and Vanessa.

"Angie came down, he probably not that cute. Plus if he is, then it'll be even harder for you to get him." Vanessa saying this trying to calm Angie cause neither of us had enough energy to deal with her this early in the morning. As we were talking we passed a big group of girls crowding around the main office.  

Was it because of the new kid?
