We've become a society of self portraits/
Dependent on WiFi/
Our ideas are imported/
Only believing what we can see with our eye sight/
The human mind is gorgeous/
Yours as well as my mind/
Knowledge is important/
Something we gain over a life time/
And when all else is distorted/
Our knowledge is our life line/
When your life is in disproportion/
You determine will your legacy be a selfie online/
Or something more important/
You decide/We've become lost in the internet/
Phone calls interrupting conversations I don't mean to interject/
But we forget about feelings and how they should be expressed/
There's more to life then how many likes you can get/
I feel that we as a society need sometime to disconnect/
I appreciate social media don't get me wrong I don't mean any disrespect/
That's not my intent/
It has its positives it keeps us up to date on current events/
And as a society it can transcend/
Our intellect/
But we're able to live this life of pretend/
And we've become obsessed/
While the cost we've paid is common sense/
Our mind set has been condensed/
Instead of reading into context/
We type in a web address/
And all of a sudden we have a PhD on the subject/We're caught up in greed/
We've forgot how to speak/
The president is in Twitter beefs/
Look back 10 years ago this would be hard to believe/
That we would get a update on our nation from a tweet/
Post then delete/
That's how info gets leaked/
Now the government is the Twitter police/
Personally I think we should re-evaluate our policies/
Cause technology/
Has taken over our democracy/
Bitcoin and online currency is the future of our economy/
The internet is the greatest monopoly/
From the Cold War to arpanet then the World Wide Web all chronologically/
It's come to the point where we lost our audacity/
We've lost our humanity/
These changes are happening drastically/So rapidly/
And maybe we just don't have the mentality/
To keep up with the changes that are happening/
