Back on this story. Wooo. Oh boy, I need to calm down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been about a week since I was kidnapped and confined in this compound's basement. Ace released me from the chains but mentioned needing my trust before allowing me to leave. Lately, I've been testing his limits, and he's been testing mine. He's impressed that I can provoke his anger but seemingly can't harm me, despite attempting to leave no visible marks or draw blood.
Exploring the basement, I found it spacious enough for a bed, TV, and dresser. Glancing at the clock, it read 11:45 AM, nearly lunchtime. Ace arranged for the basement's remodeling once I'm out. During this time, I learned more about him. His family has a history in the mafia; his grandfather initiated the compound, later passed to his father at 95, who handed it down to Ace when he was 89 and ailing. He enjoys reading and watching movies.
Surprisingly, I've discovered Ace's softer side. If any member mistreats me, he intervenes and ensures I'm okay. Seated on a chair, Ace entered with two trays. "One's for me," he noted, handing me mine. I finished my sandwich, chips, and fruit. "How are you?" he inquired as he observed me. "Good, just a bit bored," I replied, placing my plate aside while he finished his lunch.
"Want to come up so they can renovate the basement?" he offered. Aware of the risk in trusting a mafia boss, I agreed, having spent enough time with him to find his life intriguing. We ascended the stairs, and I was astounded by the fancy and spacious interior, spanning two floors. Ace explained the layout of the buildings on the compound, which included multiple bedrooms, bathrooms, and sheds.
Settling in the living room on a leather couch, Ace showed me a red button to call him if needed and went to his office. Despite being kidnapped, I found it surprising how Ace had opened up and entrusted me. He seemed like a decent guy beneath the criminal record. Engrossed in watching the cooking channel, I was taken aback by the immediate start of the basement renovations by Ace's hired workers.
*Ace's Perspective*
I facepalmed at the realization that I was developing feelings for someone I had kidnapped. It was unbelievable and foolish of me. However, I couldn't deny Jackson's adorable nature. Groaning, I tried to focus on work, but my mind kept wandering to Jackson, who appeared innocent yet knowledgeable. My attempt to sign documents was interrupted repeatedly by my thoughts. Finally, after assigning some contracts for eliminations, I pondered what Jackson might be doing downstairs.
*Jackson's Perspective*
I debated whether to cook or not while lying on the couch. A door creaked open, and Ace appeared. "Hey," he greeted, to which I responded with a casual "hi." He asked about cooking, and I confirmed that I indeed cook. He suggested I cook for a big get-together the following Saturday, and I agreed. Around 3:45 PM, the construction workers left, and Ace escorted me to the bathroom, a place I had overlooked earlier. Embarrassed, I thanked him as he left to fetch fresh clothes.
After what seemed like ages, he returned with clothes, and I locked myself in the bathroom, marveling at its opulence. Taking a warm shower, I cleaned up and eventually emerged feeling refreshed.
*Thirty Minutes Later*
Exiting the shower, I felt thoroughly clean, which hadn't happened since my abduction. Surprisingly, the clothes Ace provided fit well and smelled like him, providing an odd sense of comfort and safety. His maid collected my dirty clothes, and Ace had a plate of food ready for me. Dinner was unexpectedly sumptuous—steak, baked potatoes, green beans, and a roll. Expressing my gratitude, I finished eating.
Ace suggested I sleep on a proper bed, leading me to his room. He indicated that he'd sleep on the couch. Initially hesitant, I relented and settled into the king-size bed. The comfort and Ace's scent eased the day's stress, and I fell asleep, cocooned in the sheets.
