I

CALISTA'S POV

"Detainee no. 1242300800928"

I stood up as I started walking steadily towards the guard, feeling the heavy metals clinging side to side as it hits my legs with a hard thug. I hissed in pain as I felt it hit my knee, where a fresh wound is located. But when I saw the irritated look from the guard, I quicken my pace and didn't mind the pain. I'm sure getting shot with a gun is much worst than this chains.

I just stood in front of him and watched as he swiped the card in the middle of my chain and just like magic, I was free for now.

"Go straight and don't do anything not pleasing"

Sure will

I walked towards the cafeteria and pushed the heavy doors. And as expected, I saw a bunch of teenagers, like me, sitting still in their respective table, just what I'll just do.

This is year 2048. People didn't expect that the 'future' would turn out like this, even my Dad. I used to imagine that I'll be riding a flying car, teleport, be invisible, have robots and just be happy.

But no.

I didn't experience any of those. But what I did experience was getting caught by men in black with this laser-toy guns that I never thought could kill a thousand people, seeing other people being shot because they protested, looking at my whole family being dragged in different cells and just seeing the whole world flipped.

I didn't expect it. Actually, no one did. And that's how it all started, we got controlled by The Marauder, their so-called government.

Or more like devils from hell.

I quickly cut off my sentence in my mind when a robotic guard passed by. But then I realized they can't read minds. Or do they?

I shudder at the thought of it. What if they could? I mentally roll my eyes at my oblivion. If that metal thing did read my mind then I should already been shoot in the head because first, I called their government devils from hell and second, I called it a metal thing.

I should stop. I'm over thinking things that a normal teenager like me shouldn't think. But I'm not normal so...

"Here's your food. Eat it"

Of course I would cause if I didn't, you'll probably shoot me.

But of course, I kept that thought to myself, trying not to scoff as the robot kept on repeating the same old rusty lines they would say while serving our food, oatmeal.

I silently dig in as soon as another metal thing passed by and inspect us. Everyone is silent, maybe they're thinking about how in the Earth we even did survive with oatmeal, or when will they even change our uniform with a much more lighter color rather than just gray, or others may think of their family.

Or maybe escaping.

I stopped in my tracks and silently put my spoon down. I hovered my sight at my table mates, if I should even call them that, they're just in their own little world.

Yup, they are.

Stupid little me. Who would thought of escaping? There are only two things if ever you try to escape, it's either being caught and be shoot or run first, climb outside the walls, which if I may forget are full of wires that could roast you, and get caught then be killed.

Either way, you'll die. The end.

But not me, I wanna live. I wanna see my family again, I just wanna live a normal life again.

But how could I?

I'm a detainee.

°×°×°

After our not-so lovely dinner, we were chained again and then sent back to our respective cells.

I hastily laid on my steel bed. Oh well, at least it isn't a rock. I adjusted my pillow and close my eyes. But I open them again. I tried sleeping on my side but still failed. I can't sleep.

Then all of a sudden, there came the siren blasting and the red warning light flashed in every cell.

My heart thumped louder and palms started to sweat.

What the hell is happening?

I stood up and tiptoe as I lean on my door. The sirens and the constantly ringing of bell made my head pound and my heart became more erratic. What really is happening?

Then all of a sudden, my door burst open. My eyes grew louder by the second as realization hits me. Shoot, my door just opened without any card or any metal thing guard behind it.

Now I'm losing precious seconds deciding whether I'll go outside and get shot or just stay inside and be a good little girl.

I'll choose the first one.

I stepped outside my door and got shocked that it didn't even alarmed, just like what I expected it would. I started walking along the dark hallways. I could practically hear screams and footsteps so I walked faster but the chains on my foot made it impossible for me.

I don't even know where I'm going. I'm just walking in a straight hallways and as I turn into a corner, I heard someone yelled.

"You, Fugitive, stop in your tracks"

Then standing in front of me are three metal thing guards aiming their guns at me. My eyes widen as I tried to reason out but it didn't do anything. I forgot, they're just metal things with metal brains.

And as they started shooting at me, I felt like I'm running.

The funny thing is... I am running.

With an unknown stranger holding my wrist as we dodge the laser bullets the metal things are shooting at us.

Great. Just great.
