Good Day

Dan's POV

    "Danny!" My mum calls from across the street.She runs up and hugs me. "Dan,you didn't tell me you were pregnant again!Oh, another little grand baby!I missed you so much!"

    "I missed you too,mum.Let's get the bus back to my place and you can meet April."

    "You named her April?That's so cute!Oh,I'm so proud of you,Dan."
She hugged me.It was the first hug we'd shared in almost ten years.It felt nice to have my mother's approval.

    We make it home safe,and I open the door to see my two favorite people.

    "Daddy!" April runs into my arms.

    "Nice to see you,Dianna." Phil shakes my mum's hand.

    "Nice to see you too,Philly.And this must be little April?"

    April immediately runs behind Phil's legs.

    I pick my little girl up. "It's okay, April.This is your other grandma besides Kath."

    "Dan I wouldn't be picking her up with your back.Let's just sit and have a chat." Phil said.

    We all sit on the sofas and talk as April plays with her barbies.

    "When's your due date,Dan?" Mum asks.

    "It's October 28,but I started getting contractions last night."

    "Really,wow."

    "Excuse me,I'll be right back." I say as I head to the bathroom.Mum and Phil continue to talk as I waddle to the loo.I do my business as I usually do.

    As I reach for the handle to leave,I get a huge pain in my back and stomach,worse than the contractions from before.I yelp as the contraction peaks.Phil rushes into the room,followed by mum holding April.

    "DAN!Are you okay?!"

    "Phil,c-calm down...I'm not going to leave until my water breaks."

    "Oh,dear.It's time for me to go." Mum said. "Don't worry,I'll be there when you have the baby.Just be sure to call me when you get there."

    "Okay...bye mum."

    She puts April down on the floor. "Bye you three...four.I love you all."

    She leaves and Phil helps me to the sofa.April follows us,confused.

    "Daddy hurt?" April asks.

    "No,sweetie.I'm alri-AH!" I'm cut off by another contraction.

    "Daddy is hurting a bit,but it's a good thing!He's going to have your little sister soon." Phil says as my contraction eases.

    I look up at the clock and it's 8:00pm.My contractions started at 10:00pm last night.It's been twenty two hours since labor started.

    "Dan...Should I call Louise?She would know how to ease the contractions." Phil asks,sounding a bit scared.

    "Y-yeah...I just know my midwife said not to leave until my water breaks."

    "Okay,I'll call her.I'll be right back." He said,giving me a quick peck at the lips.

Dan's POV

    Around 10:00 I was dealing with a contraction in the kitchen.I gripped the dining chair, "Oh dear lord!"

    Phil rubbed my back and hushed me.I wrapped my arms around my lover's neck.We swayed.

    "Better?"

    "Yeah."

    My clothes were sticking on to me because of the sweating of hard labor.We rested forehead against forehead when we felt our feet wet.

    "Babe did you just pee or..." He said looking into my panicking eyes.

    "Or my water just broke."

    "Okay okay.No need to panic. Let's get you cleaned up and take you to the hospital okay?"

    I whimpered.

    "Sweetie don't cry!Everything will be just fine."

    "I'm so scared Phil."

    "You don't have to be because I am here.We are going to go through this together."

    Dan cleaned up with Phil's help. They grabbed April,called Phil's parents and Dan's mum and they made their way to the hospital.
