Morty POV

Morty walked out of the garage and down the street to y/n's house, she had promised to help him with his take home art project and anyone was better than Rick! Especially since Rick's idea of helping was ignoring the homework, complaining that school was for idiots, and taking Morty on an adventure. So his choices were: to not actually do the project, get dragged around the galaxy, and yelled at by his parents later for failing .....or go to a cute girls house and actually get things done.

The choice was obvious.

He walked up to the house and rang the doorbell, excited to get to spend time with y/n outside of school. She was always so shy, he was surprised she actually agreed to help with this project! He didn't think he was a very good artist, but he switched his elective class from computer tech to art to get closer to the new girl, at the time, y/n. She had moved to the neighborhood with her parents a few months ago, but they seemed to never be home. Morty had heard some other kids talking about how her parents worked in the hospital a little ways into the city, so he figured they must be busy people.

Y/N POV

What should I do? I don't have people over! You thought frantically as you paced in your room. The walls were f/c (fav. color), your bedding matched and had your f/a (fav. animal) all over them, several f/a plushies sat in different places in the room.

I can't let him see my room, he'll laugh at me! You glanced around the room, trying to decide if you had enough space in the closet for all of your embarrassing kiddy stuff..when the doorbell rang.

AHHHRRGGG!! You cried, almost jumping out of your skin. You turned to the cute f/a clock hanging on the wall.

H E ' S E A R L Y ! ! Your mind screamed at you. (way early, a small voice in the back of your head said.)

Panicked, you darted out of the room and down the hall only to swiftly run back and close the door to your room. He would not see that room, if it was the last thing you did! You ran back down the hall, hitting the stairs at a run.

Not your brightest moment you would recall.

You hit the carpeted stairs, feet slightly moist from nervous sweating, and you went down like a ton of bricks. You tumbled down the stairs, hitting the bottom of them with a loud oof.

Your face was burning with embarrassment and you knew he wasn't even in the house yet!

You dusted yourself off, other than being a little sore you felt fine, so you made your way to the door to let Morty in.

Morty POV

The sound of the doorknob turning snapped me out of my daydream, y/n opened the door part of the way slightly hiding behind it.

I smiled and said hello, walking through the doorway.

The house was nice, not dirty and not super clean. It looked lived in, which was refreshing in comparison to the chaos at my house. I turned to y/n as she closed the door, saying "So, I brought some snacks in case we ge-" I was looking right at y/n and realized she was bleeding! Blood was coming out of a gash on her head, it looked fresh.

"Y-y/N! You're bleeding!" I gasped and dropped my book bag on the floor, grabbing her hand in a panic. "Where is the bathroom?! W-we need to get that cleaned and bandaged!"

She reached up with the other hand, touched her head lightly and looked at her fingers after and gave them a 'well would you look at that' look, then used the same hand to point up the stairs.

This is not what I expected! Morty thought, dragging y/n up the stairs. All of his earlier thoughts about having snacks, laughing, getting to know her better, and maybe asking her to a movie pushed to the back of his mind as he rushed down the hall and into the bathroom.

Y/N POV

You sat on the edge of the tub, thinking how could this get any worse? Meanwhile Morty tore through the bathroom, hunting down first aid. He found was seemed like everything then stopped and said, "Y/n, I can't find any washcloths...where can I find one?"

"There should be one in the laundry basket in the next room over.." You said absentmindedly, lost in your thoughts of how this could have turned out if you weren't a huge klutz.

"..Ok, wait here ok? I-I will be right back!" Morty took off out of the room to get the washcloth, you still lost in your thoughts. You heard the sound of a door being opened, then it hit you.

You just sent Morty into your bedroom to get a washcloth.

Oh. Crap.

You jumped up off of the edge of the tub and scrambled into your room, running right into Morty as he made his way back.

"Ow!" "Ooof!"

You both hit the floor, Morty holding the washcloth and you staring in mortified shock.

"Y-y/n! I said to wait there!" He scooted over to you, checking to make sure you were ok.

"....I didn't...." You said softly.

"What?" Morty looked at you confused.

"...I didn't want you to see my room..." You hung your head in defeat.

Morty POV

Her room? Morty thought, confused.

!Time backtrack!

Morty had run into the room, looking for a laundry basket only to see a room decorated in f/c and with f/a all over! Plushies, the blankets, even a cute clock on the wall of a f/a.

His cheeks had flushed slightly, thinking

So cute.. She's so cute..

He shook his head and spotted the basket, grabbed a washcloth, turned, and ran out of the room. (Right into you!)

!End backtrack!

"Y/n, come on we need to clean that and bandage it." Morty said softly, deciding it would be best to talk to her about the room after she was wasn't bleeding anymore.

He stood up and pulled her back into the bathroom. He gently cleaned her forehead, applied antiseptic, and put a big bandage over it.

"Phew...There!" He said happily, looking at her sullen, but no longer bleeding, face.

Morty knelt down and looked at her, "Y/n I love f/a, they are my favorite too."

Y/N POV

I looked up at him in shock, no way.. You thought, a feeling of happiness rising in your chest.

A big smile broke out on your face and Morty smiled back, laughing a little.

3rd person POV

Morty said to her as she held a f/a plush, "I honestly think it is cute that you love f/a so much."

They sat surrounded by stuffed animals, homework scattered around them. They talked, ate snacks, got to know each other better, and Morty asked her to a movie that coming weekend.

She said yes.

Needless to say, no homework was completed that day.
