"Who will you be dueling first?" I asked Joey and Yugi.
Yugi didn't even think twice about his answer. I had a thought that he would duel a certain someone, because of what he did, but I wanted the boys to go first so I could follow.
"I'm going to challenge Weevil," said Yugi. "After all, we do have a score to settle."
"Hey... isn't that him right over there?" Téa said, pointing into the direction of the trees. We spotted Weevil standing confidently at the end of the clearing, probably wearing that smug smirk on his face. Oh, how I wished I could have tapped him over the head with my staff. A tall forest stood behind him, dense and creepy. Would Pegasus have included wild animals in the tournament?
"It is him!" cried Tristan. "But he's just standing there, looking at us. What is he doing?"
"He's waiting for us to go to him," said Yugi, narrowing his eyes. He shouted towards the bug duelist. "Weevil!"
I expected the bug duelist to reply with one of his snide remarks, but instead he cackled insanely and quickly bolted into the forest.
"What the - that coward! He's taking off!" cried Joey angrily.
"Let's go after him," said Tristan.
Without another word, everyone ran after him, following the bug duelist deep into the trees. After all his gloating on the boat, was Weevil really running away? He was itching to duel Yugi since the moment he met him, so why wouldn't he face Yugi head on now? Weevil kept on running and we kept on chasing. He was fast, and he lead us through the forest like a mouse was running away from a cat, leading it into a trap. Wait, could that be it? Was it a trap?
Suddenly, a swarm of moths flew into our faces.
"Oh, this is gross!" cried Téa, swatting the bugs away from her. She wasn't petrified, more like annoyed. "Where's Weevil leading us?"
It was a question we all wanted answered. So we surged on in hopes of reaching Weevil and making him explain. The bugs were in the thousands, flying out of their hiding places just to attack us. We rushed past trees and jumped over exposed roots. When we finally reached the end of the forest, the bugs seemed to disappear just as quickly as they had appeared. I looked ahead and found what we were running after.
Weevil was standing proudly in the middle of an empty clearing.
Was the clearing we just left behind not good enough?
"You've fallen right into my trap, Yugi!" said Weevil. A smirk was plastered onto his face, as always. So it was a trap?
Regardless of whether or not it was a trap, Yugi was determined to duel against the bug duelist. His eyes narrowed in anger as he pointed at Weevil. "It's time you answered for what you did on the boat!" he said.
Suddenly, something about Yugi changed. I witnessed them switching places, the Pharaoh and Yugi, while everyone else thought their eyes were playing tricks on them. There was a flash of golden light and in place of the high schooler, Yugi, it was the Pharaoh. My Locket emitted warmth beneath the collar of my shirt, alerting me of his presence and of the Millennium Puzzle being activated.
Having a second look at him, I noticed that his skin was as fair as Yugi's. When I looked down at my own arms, my skin was almost the same, maybe a shade darker. I wondered why that was. Maybe it was because I was out of the sun for so long and the Pharaoh was in someone else's body. Even with the difference in skin colour and clothes, the look of pure determination in his glowing crimson eyes hadn't changed at all after all this time.
