"Awe come on Gabby you have to come!" My bestfriend Amber shouted at me while she desperately shook my body. I instantly flinched at the volume of her voice.
"Please try not to shout in a library." I scolded at her in a low voice, smiling apologetically at the scowling on-lookers.
"Please try not to shout in a library," she mocked while pretending the gag herself.
"You know how rarely you go to parties," she snatched the book out of my hand.
"And how often I beg and plead for you to go." Her light green eyes searched my chocolate brown ones looking for some type of reassurance. I sighed unable to refuse my bestfriend."Fine I'll go."
"Ahhh I'm fucking excited!" She wrapped her arms around me jumping up and down, violently shaking my head back and forth. I thought this would go on forever until a woman in a purple fitted dress came over. Her face was in a scowl and her blond hair was in a tight ponytail.
"Ladies if you cannot refrain from lowering your voices and respecting the people around you, then I'm afraid I'll have to ask you to leave." She said warning us.
I felt my face flush with embarrassment as I nodded my head and softly apologized. Amber being from an entirely different planet than me, flipped her curly blond hair behind her back and rolled her eyes and the intimidating woman. I once again apologized for her bad behavior and began looking back at the shelf for a new book.
After the woman left, Amber put the book that she had stolen from me back on the shelf. She smiled at me and said, "I really am happy that you're going tonight Gabby. You're gonna make it so much better."
As we walked over to the checkout counter, I rolled my eyes saying, "Yeah can't wait to tear up that dance floor and run around wearing a lamp head." Amber laughed at my joke and opened the door as we walked out.
"Do you need my help finding something to wear?" Her eyes held I pinch of disgust as she looked down at my oversized flannel and ripped jeans.
I once again pointed the differences between us in my head. Our personalities were completely different. Her big, blond, curly hair, tan skin and bubbly personality instantly gave her a preppy vibe. Her green eyes always seemed to hold excitement in them. She was always more fashion forward than me, and seemed to attract all of the male attention when she walked into a room.
Which completely contrasted from my wavy dark brown hair that fell to my shoulders, and my completely average dark brown eyes always looked tired. Unlike Amber I tend to keep to myself. I always found myself to be in her shadow. Of course it's not her fault, and I don't blame her for it. She just has a huge personality that almost swallows mine entirely.
I was snapped out of my deep thought when Amber unlocked her car and hopped in.
"Do you need a ride home Gab?" She said after she rolled the window
I smiled and shook my head at her feeling the sun shine on my face.
"No it's alright I need to get some sun. Also I gotta get in my 10,000 steps." I joked at her.
She bit her lip as if she was having some sort of debate in her head. Finally coming to a conclusion she said,
"Alright then. I'm gonna pick you up around 9 so please be ready by then."I nodded my head at her and watched as she drove away. I took my sunglasses out of my bag and began to walk home.
Thank you so much for reading. I know the story hasn't kicked off yet but I wanted to give my Gabby some sort of background story. There definitely is more to come, and I can't wait to keep writing!!
