Dear journal,
I woke up to Zack in the kitchen making me breakfast. What an angel! I asked him what this was all about and he said that we're headed on a 5 hour road trip to his parents' house for thanksgiving. I told him I couldn't leave Jeremy by himself but he said he already made arrangements for him to stay at Cory's house over the weekend. I mean how much trouble could he get into writhing 2 days right? Anyways, we stopped at a flower shop a few minutes before arriving at the Salvatore's place to get some flowers. They had the most beautiful blue roses I've ever seen. I had to get them. As we pulled into the driveway, I was nervous. Really nervous. I mean, I was meeting my boyfriends parents for the first time since we started dating 8 months ago. It makes sense to be. Zack knocked on the door and to my surprise, a much younger Salvatore than what I was expecting opened it. "Matt!" Zack pulled him into a hug. "Hey, Zack." he must've seen me by the corner of his eye because he almost shoved Zack off and started talking to me. "Ah so you must be Skyler. Can I call you Sky? I'll call you Sky." I didn't really know what to say so I smiled at him. He looked at the flowers I was holding and said "Aw are those for me? You shouldn't have." Yeah, he's a very sarcastic person. I looked over at Zack as if to say 'can we go in now?' but then Matt leaned in and whispered to me "you know, blue is actually my favourite colour." One, I did not know that and two, is it normal for me to feel weirded out by this? Like, a little space, thanks. When we finally walked in and I had met Zack's parents, I heard a yell. "Is everything ok?!" I asked Mrs. Salvatore. "Oh I just forgot about the cranberry sauce. Matt would you be a dear and run out to the store to get some please?" "Of course mom. And uh, maybe I should bring Sky, so she can see the town a little" he looked over at me and I turned back to Zack, as if wanting him to say something about me staying. But, he didn't so I went. When I got outside, there was an old, blue Camaro running in the driveway. Matt came up, opened the door for me and smiled, being all gentleman-like. He started driving to the store and all I could think was: I don't wanna be here. Why couldn't I just have stayed back at the house? Oh god he's looking at me! And then, I caught myself staring at his eyes. These... bright, blue deer eyes, with long lashes. They probably hold so many secrets, and broken promises, and wonders. Why was I staring at his eyes?! I looked away but it was too late and Matt had already realized. "Ah you must be a blue eyes kinda chick." he smirks. "You know my brother has brown eyes, right?" Wait does he think...no. "Very funny" I said. I could already tell this was gonna be a long drive.
