"Choices defy us, what choices will you make for the right cause?..."
August 13th continues
"Sarah?" A million things went through my head. What could be so bad that mark needed to tell me? "You see Eric, Sarah... She..." "Hey mark!" Sarah came around me like a cat sneaking on a mouse. "Oh hey Sarah! It's been awhile." Sarah smiled and nodded "Well I best be going to check if everyone is still able to walk, later little bro." Mark walked away and at that moment Sarah went from an exciting and loving smile to a gloomy frown. "Sarah, you ok?" "Can we talk a walk?" We snuck out the front door and walked down by the bay. The waves flowed in a soft soothing formation, the sun was blocked by very few clouds and the wind whistled a quiet song. We walked for a bit until she said "Hey Eric, we've been friends for awhile and it's about time I told you the truth." "Please don't tell me you're an alien." That was my attempt at lightening the mood, it worked she giggled a bit. "No that secret is for another time." She smiled at me and then she stopped walking and sat down. She grabbed my hand and look up to the clouds. "Eric I need you to please pay attention." Her eyes locked on mine. "Please trust me, do not trust anyone else." She's scared, she hesitates with every word. "Hey you can tell me anything I'll trust you." She let a tear out. "Mike... he abuses me... he forces me to stay with him... I can't leave him or else he'll beat me more..." she started crying, I put my arms around her and held her close to me. "Sarah, why didn't you tell me this earlier?" I was pissed off, but I had to remain calm for her. "I was scared you'll hate me and never want to talk to me..." "Hey I won't let anything happen to you." I held her right and wiped her tears away. Something had to be done about this, mike can't just sit back and get away with this. "Where is he?" Her eyes locked with mine again, she had fear in those eyes, she didn't want him to know she told me. "Eric please don't do this." "A man would not dare hit a lady." She wept again and told me. "Eric the old man pays for what the young man did. Please do not hurt yourself. I will be ok." Something had to be done. I can't just sit back and watch this happen to her... I need to find mike and show him how a real man will fight for the love of his life...
