CHAPTER 10: ONE SPARK, ONE HEART
—————**********—————

"(Y/N)," Optimus greeted, smiling gently when he saw you. He approached the end of your bed, holding onto the slim silver railing. You smiled and gave him a small wave, still partially exhausted.

The exhaustion ran away the moment Miko jumped up and sat down on your bed, her eyes wide with excitement. Which, naturally, was a standard for her. Bulkhead opened his mouth to scold her, but quickly closed when Optimus held a hand up to his direction.

"Man, can I just mention, it was so boring back at base," Miko began, throwing her hands up into the air as an exaggeration.

"Everyone was so busy trying to find Energon and how to get on the Nemesis. Bulkhead wouldn't even watch monster truck throw downs because of it!"

Bulkhead choked on his own spit at her remark. "Miko!"

"What?" She cried, "it's true! Not a single episode! Not even a minute!"

You couldn't help but feel like you were at fault for that. It was because of your clumsiness you managed to get caught by the Decepticons, and it was your fault that everyone was too busy trying to find you to watch throw down re-runs with Miko.

"I'm sorry," you whispered. Bulkhead's and Miko's hushed yet heated argument faded away as they turned to look at you.

"What do you mean? You didn't do anything wrong," Rafael said.

You blushed at the new found attention and cleared your throat. "It's nothing, I'm sor—it's fine." You stumbled.

It remained quiet for an awkward and unpleasant thirty seconds before you piped up once more.

"So, how're you all...y'know? Humans?"

The yellow man, or rather Bumblebee, let out a series of small claps before letting his arms loose as they flew all over the place, making strange gestures with his hands as he tried to whisper out the words he was trying to describe. You furrowed your brows in confusion as you couldn't hear or understand a single thing he was saying. You were sure that since he was quote on quote "mute" as a Cybertronian he would be a mute as a human. However that works, anyways.

Arcee cracked a small smile as she stepped in to explain what Bumblebee was trying to say.
"Remember that thing Ratchet was working on? As it turns out, it created holo-forms for us. I already have a holo-form, but now I'm able to control it. Apparently we should be able to protect you guys better as we can go into buildings with you guys now,"

Your eyes widened at this. You couldn't believe they'd actually do that for you guys! Maybe this was life's way of saying 'no, they actually do care for you' just to prove you wrong.

"It's good to see you again regardless," Jack said, smiling as he approached your bedside. You turned to look at him, smiling back at him. "Thank you, it really does make me feel better,"

The thick and heavy quietness filled the room once more before Optimus broke it shortly after. "May I have a small chat with (Y/N)?" He asked politely, watching with gentle eyes as everyone quietly excused themselves out of the room. For some unknown reason, Miko left with Arcee giggling as the femme looked over her shoulder and to you, sending a private wink to you. It wasn't suggestive or flirtatious at all. It was a sign. But for what?

Once the door slammed shut, Optimus quietly approached your bedside in the exact spot Jack stood at. He cleared his throat as he fumbled with the railing, avoiding eye contact as he spoke. Was the great and almighty Optimus Prime actually nervous? "I give you my deepest apologizes for not being able to bring you back sooner," he said, looking up from the railing and to your bright (E/C) eyes. You blushed a light pink as you, in turn, looked down to your lap and fumbled with the pasty white blanket of the hospital bed. You cursed whatever god was out there for making Optimus this damn good looking as a human. You couldn't maintain eye contact for a solid two seconds before crumbling beneath the pressure of having such a godly man look at you. Did I just call him 'godly'?
