I stared at the clock waiting for it to we twelve. Once it hit twelve I'll finally be twelve of age. My birthday is on the twelve month on the twelve day. So soon I'll be twelve on the twelve day of the twelfth month at twelve AM.
In other places of the world twelve is the most important age of their life. For example twelve can mean a boy finally turning into a man, or when someone is able to get their first horse. Or even start a family and get a job and buy a house. Here in jigoku, twelve is also important. But not in the way that sounds good. When you turned twelve you are old enough to join the march to the sea.
My parents have never been elected to the March to the sea so they tell me I shouldn't worry. But I know I should worry because deep inside I know my parents are worried. I heard them having this conversation a week ago while I was running late to school. They were arguing each other and themselves about me and I were to get elected to the March to the sea. My dad would yell "we can just run away from here" than my mother would say " NO! ARE YOU INSANE! THAT'S AS DANGEROUS AS THE MARCH YOU DUMBASS!". Than they just hugged saying nothing would happen and they kept saying that because they knew that anyone can get picked. We all knew that.
Ding Dong Ding Dong. The clock kept saying meaning it was twelve am. And I knew that I was now put in to the March to the sea random generator. But what I didn't know was the clock was also telling me "danger awaits you".
