The Tallies

Introduction

There are 13 tallies on the inside of my wrist. Some people call them marks, but other people, like me, call them tallies.
There are 3 kinds of tallies; scarred tallies, red tallies, and black tallies. I have a mix of all three. To be exact I have 3 scarred ones, 9 red ones, and 1 black one. The different tallies have distinct meanings. For example the scarred tallies represent the loss of love for both me and the other person. My parents are two out of the three scarred tallies on my wrist, the third is someone I’d like to forget… Then there’s the red tallies, they represent the love a person has for me or the love I have for a person, I have 9 of these. Finally there’s the black tallies. The black tallies represent the love shared between me and another person, I only have one of these. I’m Azalea and this is my story.
