Alexa's P.O.V

" Don't be nervous honey!" My mom encouragingly said to me.

"Trust me things will end up as they should"

How they can think moving schools in sophomore year is easy I don't even know.

My family and I recently moved to Pickering Ontario in Canada for my moms work, from the sunny beaches of California. I was never one to be super out going or popular but being in the same location, same friends and same school helped me cope with my social awkwardness; but now, moving to a tiny town with no friends.. I couldn't be less prepared.

I put away my breakfast bowl and walked up to my room to get dressed but despite the piles of clothes and cardboard boxes around me nothing appealed to me.

In the end I settled on some skinny jeans, navy sweater and flip flops with natural hair and minimal makeup.

"Good luck honey!" My parents shouted as I stepped out of our car.

I didn't respond because all I could here was the pounding of my heart and the noise of students talking about their amazing summers.

I walked up to the admissions office and was given a basic debrief of the day, I also learned that I was the only transfer. Great.

I looked at my syllabus and saw that I had biology first period. I re read the room number over and over again but still couldn't manage to find the room, so I started walking towards a girl who looked about my age.

"Hi sorry to bother you but do you think you could tell me where room 425 is?" I said meekly.

"Absolutely!" She looked at the syllabus "You have Mr.Jedland for bio. He's awesome. Oh, I'm Kate by the way." She replied confidently sticking out her hand.

"Alexa" I said "But I go by Lex."

"Nice to meet you"

That went a lot better than I expected.

"Welcome back sophomores, I expect everyone had a good summer?" Mr. Jedland said.

The class erupted into conversation about the fun summer stories they all were dying to share,

"Okay okay I know everyone is excited to be back but please let's keep the taking to the minimum" He responded firmly. "I have an announcement we have a new student joining us a Ridgeway High, a Miss Alexa from California!"

Everyone's eyes turned to look at me. I couldn't help but blush. A group of girls started whispering to one another.

"Okay kids that's it for announcements, now time for everyone's favorite class biology!"

The rest of the class was a blur all I could think about was whether or not I was fitting in.

'Please please like me' I thought to myself.

Soon enough my thoughts were interrupted by the loud ringing of the bell. Everyone started shuffling out of the room- reuniting with their friends.

Soon all of our morning classes were over and it was time for lunch.

"Lex!" I heard someone call from behind.

Kate. I saw her run towards me. She had long red hair and an amazing smile which made me mildly envious her.

"I was looking everywhere for you!" She said spritely.

"Well.. Here I am?" Jesus Christ Lex get it together.

"Let's go. I'm starving"

She slung her arm across my shoulder and navigated my way through the cafeteria.

"So! Tell me about yourself Alexa." She said pouring salad dressing.

"Well.. I'm 15 turning sixteen September 3.. Half English half American, I am from California, have an extremeeely annoying little sister name Grace and am currently single. How about you?"

"Vegetarian, Pizza and Ed Sheeran enthusiast. Born and raised in Pickering and currently in a relationship."

"Who's the lucky man??"

"Cameron Dallas." She said dreamily. "You may have heard of him. He's in magcon."

"Magcon.. right." What is magcon?

"Don't tell me you don't know what magcon is."

I shook my head.

"Well you my friend have a lot to catch up on." She said putting her fork into her food.

She talked to me about all the hot guys of Ridge High, couples, cliques, do's and don'ts and soon enough I was mostly caught up.

As we were walking to our next class I noticed a group of girls swarming around this one, remarkably tall guy.

"Who's that?" I said.

"You don't fancy him do you?"

"Um no just asking"

"Shawn Mendes. Pickering super star. Vine boy who broke it big in the music industry."

"Mhm."

"He's basically the topic of every female conversation here. All the girls want to be with him now that he's famous."

I looked at him and his mob. He was extremely handsome. He turned and faced my direction. Somehow is eyes moved over the girls around him and landed on mine. He smiled. I smiled back and blushed.

"Hey Lex! Snap out of it." Kate said.

"Yeah yeah"

I couldn't get him off my mind.

Hey guys I know this chapter didn't really talk about Shawn that much but I wanted to introduce the characters first so you can kinda "get the feel" for the main character Alexa! I really hope you enjoy and please comment vote and read!!!
