"C'mon, Mabes, we're almost there!"

"Yeah, I heard you the first time, Dipper. You'll make the bus driver kick us out before even arriving and it's way too cold outside to walk." I giggled as he started to throw a little faked tantrum, still jumping in his seat.

That enthusiastic and cheerful boy with a 'Shooting Star' cap is my twin brother, Dipper Pines, and the nerdy girl trying to calm him for the sake of our body heat is me, Mabel. We were heading to a little town in Oregon that doesn't even figure on the map: Gravity Rises, where our Great Uncle, which we never had the chance to meet, Stanley Pines, runs a Museum dedicated to paranormal phenomenons. Since our parents were on a business trip in England, and in order for us to "calm our little hyperactive minds", they decided we should spend some time along with distant family far away from home. Anyway, Dipper and I hadn't complained at all being that Dipper just loved the idea of living in the middle of the forest and I loved the idea of living with the only member of our family that might actually understand me and aid me in my paranormal researches.

We descended from the bus as the driver announced the arrival of the final destination and, fortunately, Stanley, who we got to recognize by some photos our grandfather showed us, was waiting beside a car along with a big blonde woman with friendly features.

"Mason and Mabel, am I right? Hi, I'm your Great Uncle Stanley and this is Melody, one of my employees." I shyly waved while Dipper just screamed his greetings, incapable of holding his excitement. Melody smiled towards us and then she hugged us.

"Oh! You both are even cuter than in the photograph!" Dipper hugged her back, laughing at the situation.

"Thank you! Oh, and call me Dipper, everyone calls me that because of the birthmark I have on my forehead." He got away from Melody's embrace, facing Stanley and proudly showing of his forehead "See Great Un...? Hum...Grunkle Stan! that's easier and faster to say, it sounds cute as well. Do you mind me calling that, Grunkle Stan?" Stan seemed amazed for a second by my brother's ability of talking so fast without even stopping for a breath but, anyway, he nodded with a smile imprinted in his face and headed towards the car. Melody took our luggage and then followed him, taking the copilot seat as we accommodate ourselves at the back.

"You know, Dipper, you remind me a lot to someone I know while Mabel..." Stan cut himself to examine me through the rearview mirror and I couldn't help but feel intimidated. I hadn't say anything since we arrived, he hadn't even heard my voice. Was that impolite? Rude? I didn't mean t- "You resemble me a lot, young one, we'll pass a great time together."

The Mystery Museum was exactly how I expected it to be: a house ambiented as an old shack in the middle of the woods with plenty of weird stuff hanging around. Our room, which was the attic, had a pentagon shape with windows in shape of triangles with an eye, contributing to the mystique of the place. I wonder if every room was shaped like that...

"Hey, Mabes, what bed do you want? Right of left?"

"Oh... Well... I'm always on your left." Dipper smiled, catching the reference from a movie he loves. He placed his suitcase over his new bed and started unpacking. "Isn't this exciting, Mabes? Maybe I'll finally be able to give my first kiss! Just imagine it: me... her... under the snowing sky..."

"Yeah, you'd totally get stuck to her cold lips."

"Hey! Nothing like what happened with that pole last year will happen again, I promise." I rolled my eyes, unpacking as well and internally excited as well for the things to come.
