Harshad pulled himself back "I'm sorry Jenny, not like this, I don't want to be something that just distracts you" he shook his head, the guilt was slowly eating up at him as he looked at her broken expression. Right now she wasn't in the right state and the last thing he wanted was for a moment like this to be known as a mistake
"I understand" Jennifer looked down as he walked out, her cheeks a dark red from her embarassment, she shouldn't have got so carried away. He was her co-actor, she needed to be professional.

3 Weeks Later-
Harshad looked at the photo of his mother, he had always made an effort to hide his sadness, he wanted to be strong, for his family, especially for Harsha. His eyes burnt with tears, his heart ached and his hands shook.
Every year, this day was the hardest, this day caught him off guard, hushed whispers of his loss surrounded him, yet he carried on as if he was okay. But today seemed a little more difficult.
He ran a hand over his face, taking a deep breath trying to mask his tears as he sat on his bed. "Jaan thi woh meri" he hid his face in his hands, his shoulders shaking with his sobs. Never did he think a day would come where his mother was not with him, yet that day had came and far too early
Harshad led back on his bed, a muscular arm covered his eyes. The pain of death never really went away, it left a lot of questions, you wondered if you spent enough time with them, if you had made them proud, it filled you with repentance for all the arguments you had with them.
He closed his eyes tightly, rolling onto his front when his phone rang beside him, he reached out, holding it to his ear "Hello" his voice was gruff
"It's Jenny, I just wanted to see how you were"
Harshad sat up "Yeah, fine, you" she was the last person he had expected to call him
There was a short silence before she spoke again "You know, she'd be proud of you right, the person you are and all you've achieved"
He swallowed back the tears "Thank you Jenny, i'd like to think so, how have you been"
Jennifer remembered that incident all those weeks ago, they hadn't really had a proper conversation since, and it was killing her. She missed having him around, the jokes he would make, the way he would make her laugh. All of it, all the things that made him very special to her. "I'm fine, but i've missed you"
There was an eerie silence, as if Harshad was thinking about what to say, truthfully he was a little shocked. He didn't feel like anything important and didn't expect her to miss him "I've missed you too"
"Oh, good, because i'm outside your house and this would have been very awkward if you hadn't" she laughed
Harshad pulled open the door, hoping she wouldn't notice the red rims around his eyes or the broken expression on his face, and if she did, she didn't say anything.
She stepped forward, wrapping her arms around his waist "I'm so sorry"
He closed his eyes, basking in her presence, she made him feel all warm inside, it was as if while holding him she could mend all the broken parts within him and make him right again. He bent his head, inhaling her homely smell that always managed to calm him
She looked up at him "I brought you this" she held up some bananas "I thought it might cheer you up, and here's a card from the set"
Harshad smiled "Thank you Jenny, just what the doctor ordered" he winked "Can I get you a drink"
"Allow me this time" she rushed to the kitchen, make the drinks then walk to another room, that was the plan. Kitchens and coffee held too many reminders of what if's.
"Didn't I tell you, you'd do the same for me" he crossed his arms, a smile on his face
Jennifer nodded "Of course" she wanted to avoid talking about what had happened before, but knew it was important to clear the air. "About before"
He waved his hand "Don't worry about it, you were having an emotional night"
But she wanted to worry about it, maybe the emotions had pushed her to take the risk, but ever since she had dreamed about kissing him, she wanted to know what it felt like to have his lips on hers, wanted to know what it felt like to have his arms wrapped around her on cold nights. "Actually, I want to discuss it, asking you to be a distraction was wrong, but" she sighed
"Jenny, honestly it's okay"
"But, you're not just a distraction to me" her eyes met his, could this be the solution? Was this what she had spent all her time looking for? "You're so much more than that"
Harshad raised a brow "Really, then what am I" he didn't realise when his feet had began to carry him further forward so he was stood right in front of her
She cupped his cheek "I don't know yet, but this, whatever we have, it's special" she didn't want to take advantage of him when he was low, but she didn't want to leave this unsaid "I think I like you as more than a friend"
He leant his forehead against hers, closing his eyes he exhaled loudly then tugged her forward "I don't really know how to react to that"
"I know" she whispered "Just promise me, promise me you won't ever walk out on me again like that, I felt so lost without you"
The smile on his face was bashful "I promise Jenny, as long as you promise, that if you ever need a distraction, you'll call me, not anyone else" he husked
"I wouldn't ever dream of it, tu mera hamdard hai na" she smiled, then wrapped her arms around his waist
By far, this wasn't the end of their journey, it was the start.
