To say she was shocked would be an understatement, as when Ayano woke up and saw the nearly naked body beside her. Her cheeks went red, and she nearly fell off the bed. What kept her on the bed was Midori's arms that were wrapped around her back, and her leg that was intertwined with her own. The position was....comfortable, but so weird.

Then she heard a loud mumble, along with the distinct sound of a choked sob. "Midori?" she whispered, seeing the other girl in her bed. It was evident that Midori was trapped in a nightmare, something that Ayano had heard of....but never really experienced. Looking at the pitiful state that Midori was in, she was tempted to wake the girl up.

Then the mumbles continued, from the intangible mess from before to cohesive words. "Mama, p-papa.....don't leave....me.....p-please..." then the tears left the corners of the green haired girl's eyes, tightened her grip around Ayano to seek comfort in her sleep. "S-sorry...I'm so stupid...and a w-waste of s-space......sorry...t-that I....w-was born..."

If there was ever a time that Ayano felt guilty for mistreating Midori in the past and recently, it would be now. The shit that Midori had gone through with her parents, she was neglected for a good chunk of her life after it was discovered that she was.....slow. Gently, Ayano managed to release one of her arms and shake the girl.

It took a while, but Midori's green eyes opened. But almost immediently, she dug herself into Ayano's body to seek comfort. "Y-yan-chan......am I a waste of time?.....A-am I useless to y-you...?"

"What?"  Ayano asked, with a surprised voice. "You helped me a ton over the last two weeks, setting up....my, um, murder cases. You're not useless," she sighed, deciding to wrap her arms around the younger girl. "Don't even consider what your parents have told you, you are not a waste of air and you certainly aren't useless."

"A-are you certain?" the disbelief evident in Midori's voice saddened Ayano, for reasons she just couldn't explain. Why was this so hard to understand, she was supposed to only feel emotions around her beloved senpai...yet Midori also gave her that key. "Ayano, a-are you s-sure..?" Midori asking again, after she didn't hear a response.

Sighing, Ayano considered her answer properly. Eventually, she said gently "Yes, I'm very sure," as she spoke, she gently rubbed Midori's back to comfort her. "Come on, lets get breakfast. We need to be ready for school."

Solumnly, Midori nodded as she tried to put her thoughts on a back burner. After her dream, she was just upset and was still under the illusion that Ayano despised her. Even after all the care that the dark haired serial killer was giving her at the moment. Was she truly worth the effort. As she got up, she looked down at her body and blushed in horror as she recalled how she wasn't wearing anything over than her underwear. "S-s-s-sorry, Y-y-yan-chan!" she gasped out, covering her chest area.

Ayano simply chuckled, getting up and walking to the door. "There's a uniform in the closet from my first year, mother never got rid of my old uniforms. It should fit, and it'll be better than your bloody one. Meet me downstairs," Ayano had her clothes already arranged downstairs on a hook by the door, as she was just well-prepared to get to school with the perfect amount of time to work towards eliminating a rival.

Even though she was overcome with embarrassment, Midori heard and groaned to herself. Why was she such a horrible guest? Sleeping half-naked in your childhood friend's bed without permission, there had to be something wrong with that. Something she clearly hadn't thought of the night prior.

Changing into Ayano's old uniform, she looked at her bandaged wrist. Why....did I not dig in deeper....I'm useless and a pain in the ass. Ayano shouldn't have had to seen me in my underwear. I shouldn't have even spend the night here.... she sighed, just putting the uniform on and headed downstairs. Midway down the stairs, she smelt pancakes and all negative thoughts just flushed away.

Clearly seeing the green haired girl on the stairs, Ayano laughed at the girl's clear drool. "Come on, I'm sure you're hungry," Midori didn't reply, she just ran down the stairs and instinctively waited for Ayano to dish up her pancakes. "Here you go," she handed the plate of a stack of pancakes, as she continued to make her own. "There's syrup in the cupboard," pointing to the correct cupboard.

"Thanks....for everything you'd done....today and yesterday," Midori whispered, getting the syrup out. Ayano looked at her, surprised but smiled gently.

"Welcome," Ayano replied, short and simple as she sat down with her pancakes. "Hurry up and eat, or we may be late to school."

As she took her first bite, Midori's eyes sparkled. "It's amazing! I forgot how good your cooking was, no wonder you're in the cooking club. They're lucky to have you!" the compliments were totally honest, Ayano could see that much. But she honestly didn't think much of the food personally, it was standard at best. But she nodded and accepted it, knowing that she needed to eat as quick as possible.

Shorter chapter, but a nice transition.
