River's POV
"What's popping fam?!" I started to say into my camera, holding it out in front of my face. "So I know I said I would pick the camera back up when I picked up Maria, but in all honesty I forgot that I was supposed to be vlogging...This whole talking to a camera is all still new to me, but maybe." I moved the camera over to Maria, "Maybe this will make it up to you guys."
"Hi guys." Maria smiled as she looked up from her phone.
"Isn't she adorable," I reached my hand out for her to take, staying in frame, "guys comment down below happy birthday Maria and flood her dms with bday messages."
"Nah don't do that guys." She said waving her hands at me, "No one needs to do that, but instead comment the word 'fail' cause she's failing that vlogging game." She giggled as I shot her a playful glare
"Your lucky it's your birthday or else I have to have a stern talking with you." I said as she moved her eyebrows up, "Joke, you know I can't be mad at that face."
"Yea you really can't." She said with a cute smile, kissing my hand in a playful best friend way, "Couple goals am I right?!"
"Hell yes," I flipped the camera back on me letting go of her hand for a second, " Guys come up with some ship names for Maria and I in the comments and I'll like a few of my favorites."
"Ok can someone explain to me how my sister is in a relationship before me?" Maria's older brother, Conor asked as he sat down passing out our drinks.
"Why thank you kind sir." I said taking a sip of soda.
"Well you could just date Rivs," Maria chuckled as I started choking on my soda which made Conor start patting my back.
"You okay Rivs?!" He asked moving his head so he was level with my face. I've never noticed it before but he has really pretty brown eyes that I've seem to get lost in at the moment, "River?!"
I shook my head coming out of my trance, "huh?! Yeah I'm okay, just went down the wrong pipe." I let out a small chuckle trying to take the some of the attention of me.
"Alright." He smiled, giving me one last pat on the back before he took a sip of his soda. I caught Maria giving me a small smirk, which caused me to shake my head 'no' at her. She's always making jokes about how she thinks Conor and I would look cute together and things of that nature. I mean yes he's cute and all, but we're just friends; he probably thinks of me as another sister.
"Yo earth to River!" Maria said waving her hand almost an inch from my face, "You still with us?!"
"Yesssss!" I drug out the 's', looking over at the small little blonde girl up on stage singing Taylor Swift. "Doesn't she sound and look like T-Swift?" I laughed knowing full good and well it wasn't.
"You know you're right." Maria laughed along with me. "But I would like to see you up there showing her how it's done."
"Are you trying to make me choke on my drink M?!" I asked setting my cup back down.
"Come on Rivs I've heard you sing in the car, you would blow everyone away up there." She said tapping the back of her phone.
"Yeah but that's in the car with just us; this is live in front of people I don't know." I could feel my cheeks turn red from embarrassment; just thinking about being in front of people makes me nervous. "And another reason,"
Conor interrupted before I could finish, "And that's why I had already signed you up; you're up next."
"WHAT?!"
"You're singing next Rivs, you're welcome." He flashed a pearly white smile.
"I—no I'm not doing it. There's too many people here, all eyes will be on me."
"Yes that's the point of singing on stage, so people can watch and cheer for you." He placed his hand down on the table, almost touching mine.
"You mean for people to boo and laugh at me." I pouted
"No one will laugh at you River cause if they do they will have to deal with me." Maria chimed in setting her drink down like she's the president of an important meeting. I bit my nail focusing my eyes on them and the stage and back again. "Trust me babes, their going to love you."
"And if you need to focus on me and me only and I'll promise you won't be as scared." Conor spoke softly so only I could hear.
I let in one long breath and then released, "Okay I'll do it." I smiled softly, standing up.
"That's my girl!" Maria clapped
"You got this Rivs just remember," Conor pointed from me to him and back again. I nodded a bit and turned and walked over to the dj station.
The tall fair skinned guy with dark classes looked up and smiled, "River?!"
"Yes sir." My voice cracked
"Alright and what song are we going to get you to sing for us?"
I looked down at the different tracks that I could choose from stopping on the song that I use to sing with Mikey, "T118 please."
"You got it girl." He handed me a microphone and motioned for me to go on stage, "Okay everyone we have our next challenger up on stage; please give a warm welcome for River."
There was a little applause when he turned his mic off to start the track...I searched the crowd for Maria and Conor the best I could with the lights shining in my face....I found them out the corner of my eye and saw Conor holding up my phone. It look like he had someone on a FaceTime call; I squinted and saw Mikey smiling back at me which made it easier and a lot less scary being up here.....I let out one last breath and waited for the song to play.
