Only living creatures are capable of feelings and emotions. Anything else and it is predicted that the human race would succumb to its power and superiority, being wiped out in the process.
Every so often, Leigh glances at it, her android. Her robot. Her slave. There is more to it however, or so she sees. Its eyes are too human like for her, and the fact that it is designed to replicate activities such as breathing, eating, and even sleeping, is bone-chilling to her. As it watches the T.V. with her, Leigh feels increasingly disturbed, yet somehow comfortable with its presence. This mix of feelings seems unusual to her, but she goes along with it, shrugging it off after a while.
The android stares intently at the screen, the chip on her neck constantly changing colour, processing the information it is taking in. Its eyes widen as they follow the people moving, the pupils constantly changing in size. It appears to be in awe, with its mouth slightly open as it leans forward. The screen was reflected in its eyes, which Leigh found mesmerising to look into. She carried on staring for a while and something clicked in her head. What she felt was unusual and somewhat unnatural, but staring at the girl next to her felt exciting, despite the fact that it was an android. But was it really? It seemed so human. So alive. Perhaps that was the point of it, to make it seem as human-like as possible.
"I'm going to..uh...make some tea, do you want some?" As soon as she said it, Leigh felt like an idiot. "Oh, right you won't want any, will you?"
"No thank you, I'm not thirsty."
"Fuck, I forgot you eat and drink and that kind of shit." Leigh felt slightly embarrassed and shuffled to the kitchen area of her flat.
"Let me make that for you, it's what I was created to do." The android says this with a slight smile and stands up from the couch. It walks past Leigh and gets started straight away by boiling the kettle. "Do you take sugar?"
"Two heaped spoons, thanks..." Leigh walked up to the counter where Sarah was making her tea and leant over it. She smiled and looked down, her hair hanging down over her shoulders. She felt a hand tuck the right half back behind her ear and looked up to see her android smiling down at her. The tall robot stares into her eyes as Leigh looks longingly back, biting the inside of her lip. Regret soon followed her actions. These feelings should not exist here. Not like this. Leigh's heartbeat was razor thin in her chest and she found it hard to breathe. I shouldn't be feeling like this. Not this soon, and not for a fucking robot. Leigh shook her head and frowned, looking down at the counter.
"What's wrong? You seem a little down." The android's chip turned green, as opposed to being naturally white.
"Nothing, I just...I freaked out a little and...I'm not really sure why." Leigh awkwardly laughs during the last word.
"Are you sure? I'm only doing what I was b-... created to do." The stammer startled Leigh for a second.
"What were you going to say?"
"When?"
"Just now, when you were saying that you were 'created', but you were going to say something else, what?"
