Chapter one

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Candy! Happy birthday to you!" I smiled as my dad and older brother walked into my room, carrying a big cake, three presents and a card.

"Make a wish princess." my dad says, putting the cake in my small hands.

I close my eyes tight and scrunch my nose, crossing my toes and fingers and make a wish.

Now I can't tell you what it is but let's just say I really want it to come true.

I blow the blue candels out and grin at my father.

"Candy here, open mine first." my brother Axel says, passing me a blue velvety parcel.

It's soft and squishy and has a nice smell coming from it.

I carefully open it, careful not to rip the beautiful paper, to reveal a fluffy, blue teddy bear.

"Axel it's so cute, but why does it smell nice?" I ask, holding it close to my chest.

"Because silly, you sort of open its neck and there's a hole where you can put stuff, I shoved some nice smelling candels down it." he shrugs.

I open its neck and take the little red candles out, they smell of spices.

I pull him into a hug before my dad hands me his.

It's smaller than Axels but somehow heavier.

I pull at the silver wrapping and look at the small box.

I grin and open the box carefully.

I look at my new iPhone.

"Dad, holly Christ! thank you, thank you, thank you!" I say pulling him into a hug as well.

"Your welcome princess, and now this ones from Aunt Macy." I look at the red and white swirls on the paper and laugh mentally.

No matter how many times I tell her my favorite color is blue, she always gives me red.

I open the large, box-shaped parcel and take a look at what she sent this time.

A light blue sweater, a dark blue beanie and a little voodoo doll, complete with pins.

"She's so crazy." I mutter, to no one in particular.

"Who's the card from?" I ask, setting my gifts aside.

"Um well it's not really a gift. It's more of a notice." my dad says, all happiness draining from his eyes.

"What do you mean?" I ask, my eyes narrowing.

"There's no good way to put this princess, but here goes. you are now going out with a young man, you will soon be moving in with him and his parents." my mouth drops.

"What? this must be some kind of sick joke, right?" I turn to Axel but he looks just as shocked.

"I'm sorry but Axel's going to college and I will be starting work so I can pay for your education as well, also, his family is very wealthy so if you two say... get married, well we'll just see later on down the track."

I look at him, stunned.

"Are you high or something?" I ask, still not registering.

"Nope, I am totally serious. all the information is in there." he says, passing me the envelope.

"But-" I start but he just ignores me, taking the cake and walking out of the room.

I take the envelope in shaking hands and open it.

I almost faint at those two words.
