Yoshi straightened his jacket as he double-stepped down the stairs. He hadn't had time to shower today and was anxious about a coffee meeting scheduled for late that day. The shrieks and beeps from the other room faded into the background as his mind drifted to the coffee brewing in the kitchen. He grabbed his Tallis and work bags and bounded toward the door.
The minyan would not be waiting for him, and it was the second time this week he would be this late.
As he reached for the handle he managed a "Bye!" And with that, the door slammed shut.
She hadn't noticed he'd left.
