~third person pov~

~

things were getting worse. for the past two days, daniel had been compulsively drinking. zach had tried his hardest to bribe him again, but it just wouldn't work.

all three boys were terrified.

you could clearly hear daniel panting and gasping as he tried to catch his breath from crying so damn hard in his room.

it was unknown why he was crying.

maybe that's something psychotic people just do.

for hours upon hours, daniel cried and cried, rocking back and forth in his room.

he felt guilty.

he felt guilty for taking these three boys, he felt guilty for raping them, he felt guilty for hurting them; but he can't turn himself in.

he just can't.

he can't go to prison.

if he were to let the boys free, he'd know they'd reveal who he was. there was absolutely no way out of what he's done.

he doesn't know exactly why he robbed these kids of their innocence and freedom.

maybe it was his demons that finally got to him.

he doesn't know.

it's all very confusing to everyone. confusing to jack, confusing to corbyn, confusing to zach.

it's a scary road they've all been forcefully driven down.

←→

it's been two hours. you can hear daniel muttering inaudible words to himself. all the boys had just resorted to staying silent.

strangely, the inaudible words got louder. the white door slowly opened and daniel stepped in.

his cheeks and eyes were both different shades of red, and his dark, long eyelashes were shiny from tears.

he made grabby hands towards zach as he neared him, untying the bounded rope, letting him free.

daniel connects their hands.

he slowly leads the younger boy out of the room and into his own. he silently pushes zach onto the bed, before sitting down next to him.

there they sit, silent; blue against brown.

daniel scoots closer, almost as if he's a teenage boy trying to make a move on a younger girl.

he re-connects their hands.

zach quickly glances down. he links their fingers together. their hands fit perfectly in one another.

daniel likes it, and he hopes deep down inside zach does too.

"daniel, if i hold your hand, you need to promise me something," zach explains.

"what?" daniel asks.

"you'll let jack and corbyn out of the room tomorrow, deal?" daniel stares blankly at zach's dull eyes for a second.

"deal."
