A letter to my crush

The average heart rate is about 80 beats per minute.
The average person breathes about 16 times per minute.
The average person can say about 130 words a minute.
But ever since I met you, I wasn't the average person.
Ever wonder why it's so easy to change or forget how to do something properly, something you've been doing your whole life?
The first time I met you, I thought you were cute and I liked you. I didn't believe in love at first sight; I still don't. But I liked you. A schoolgirl crush. But when I found out that you were in all of my classes, I took it as a sign. When I realized that we sat near each other in almost every class, I took it as a sign. Was it because our last names were similar? No, it was definitely fate. And then I heard you speak. And I swear, it was like I was wandering through a fresh field of daisies while acoustic played. You said something funny, and I laughed my cutest laugh. I smiled and introduced myself, but couldn't figure out what to say next. Because you do that to me. You make my heart race, and my breathing hitch, and my words halt. It's been a year, and it still happens.
As we started getting closer, I realized how great of a guy you were. I went from smiling cute smiles every day and waking up at 5am to straighten my hair, to laughing normally and wearing messy buns. It was on the third day of my messy bun when you pushed a dark strand of hair out of my face, fingers causing sparks on my skin, and said, Your eyes are beautiful. I didn't understand why you said that; I wasn't beautiful, I didn't even think I was pretty. There were so many other girls who liked you and were prettier, who had more charm, who were more athletic. But yet you said my eyes were beautiful.
It was that moment that I realized that I had fallen for you, and didn't want to call LifeAlert to get me back up. I had opened up my heart for the first time, and you had the key. My heart was a love-struck hummingbird taking flight: fast yet gradual, delicate yet strong, beautiful yet scary.
All I could do was watch, as our two hummingbird hearts flew near each other, closer and closer, until one day they landed on the same flower. And I slowly watched as I witnessed something that I never thought would happen to me. The hummingbirds took flight away together, going as fast as their wings can carry. I gave you my delicate hummingbird heart, crush. Break it and I'll fly away with a broken wing. But care for it and I'll be your lovebird forever.
The average hummingbirds' wings beat 3,180 times in a minute: about 40 times faster than an average humans hear rate.
