episode: 1
'the first spark'
series: one flame

Nala hops into the hollow delighted, fiery red and sunset orange feathers glowed from the sun behind her" He-y dad?"

She chirped as she waddled over to her dad. "Yes Nala"

he turned to meet his daughters gaze, his Aron's darkish brown yet orange tone almost glowed as well "Can me and dawn go practice flying again? Please!"

she bobbed her head excitedly. Aron felt a cold shiver up his spine and a crashing wave of heat on his face, he stiffened up, stepped back and looked around frantically, he almost had trouble breathing but he did not want to show any fear to Nala.

He was almost frustrated with Dawn for not telling him what happened to his eye. Aron felt as though is was dangerous for Nala to be out there, thoughts raced through his head, he kept panicking more and more knowing he needs to answer soon.

But he also needs to make sure Nala can become independent and be able to hunt food on her own. He did find dawn in a field generally far from here but if its true danger it could be here...he sighed as he looked at the ground in fear and replied with "sure!" in his is most confident 'I'm alright' tone. "yay! Thanks dad!"

Nala said as she ran and jumped out of the hollow with a confident push of her wings.

Aron smiled to himself but soon again turned into worry, he wished he could go fly with her instead of Dawn, but he was busy fixing the hollow After that black bear came around and broke it.

Nala adored the feeling of the cool wind in the afternoon and warm heat from the sun as they mixed together before gliding through her feathers. And the nice smell of sap and flowers. She wished he could fly better though, she is told to fly with the wind...but...how?

She tried to use harsher flaps to possibly raise her more to make her faster, but it only seemed to do worse than good. She tried harder and harder, but nothing worked. She was acting like a chickadee!!! She had already started feeling tired, so she decided to try and save her energy.

Though because she was in a wide field, so she did have an extra amount of wind, that's what she liked about summer, not only did it have the nice heat but wind she can use to her advantage, flying with the harsh spikes of wind in winter sounds like a bad idea. Thankfully she wouldn't need to yet.

As dawn showed up her mind cleared up a little, she not only needs to practice flying, but also try to stop her stuttering. Yes, it wasn't every sentence, but it was still bad compared to some other birds.

Right before dawn got there, she focused on how dawns greyish brown feathers didn't glow as much as his bright red and brown tail. The sunlight practically went through his tail and maybe a little through his wings.

As Dawn got to Nala, he turned and looked at her before he said in his rough unhealed voice" so, how was your day?"

"it was g-ood, not much happe-ned but I have been trying to look at how other birds fly, and at one point tried to help Dad fix the hollow... yeah I am not the great-est at that... then I tried to go outside and fly around but he wouldn't let me"

Dawn chuckled as he asked, "why is he like that?"

Nala's voice got quieter" it's probably because of my mom, she wasn't the greatest but eventually she just left almost right after I hatched..."
