Chapter 2

He stayed there some time looking at the redhead, but no reaction on his part, apparently he had not seen his face when he had been attacked.

While Jack was more relaxed now that he knew that the employee had not seen his face before, the redhead notice that Jack was bleeding from his arm.

Employee – sir your arm his bleeding!

Jack (looking at his arm, the redhead was right, he only notice now) – hoo ... This is nothing serious; when I get home I will take care of it.

Employee - Seriously, I can take care of that in a moment; come with me to the back of the bar.

Jack thought about it and that it might be a good opportunity to finish what had begun that night, so he decided to follow him until the back of the bar.

While trying to find the right moment to attack it, he turns with a box in hands

Employee – so let’s go…

The employee was doing the bandages on Jack’s arm with no questions asked despite being curious to know the reason of that cut. When he finally ended.

Employee - ready, you were lucky it was only superficial.

Jack -… thank you...

Employee - Wade, I'm Wade.

Jack – Wade... Thank you very much.

Jack couldn’t understand why, why  didn’t he finished the job like he wanted to, it’s like  he had just lost all his anger as the time passed with Wade … when he was supposed to feel even more angry, because Wade was the perfect victim, and his last attempt failed.

After that moment, Jack went home, still asking himself ‘why? Why couldn’t I do it when it was my big opportunity? '

Next day, Thursday, Jack made his routine, but at night instead of seeking for his next victim he decided to go to the bar where Wade worked, he wanted to understand what had happened the night before, he wanted to see him one more time. When it came to the bar the 1st person that he saw, in the midst of all that people, it was Wade, and so he could be closer to him, he went closer to where Wade was serving.

Wade – hello again, how is your arm?

Jack – its fine … thank you

Wade – don’t worry, I wouldn’t let somebody with their arm in that state without doing something.

Well … what would you like to drink?

Jack -   You can call me Jack … I would like a black beer please

Wade – alright, Jack

When the bar started to get empty, Jack was still there, and he had intentions of staying there until the bar closes, his thoughts still weren’t complete.

 Wade – you still here?

Jack – yes … I don’t want to go home well at least not yet.

Wade – then I will stay here with you, the bar has a few people and I don’t have anyone to serve.

Jack – that’s fine by me but I don’t think I will be such an interesting company.

Wade - Then what about me being the interesting company?

Jack – in that case I will have to say yes.

Jack thought that it was the right moment to start trying to find the reason why what happen last night … happened and trying to understand himself, maybe if in that moment he stayed with Wade he would know what was happening to him and the reason why he couldn’t stop thinking about him, at the beginning he thought it was because he failed to kill him but now it was having doubts.  He wasn’t sure about his feelings and what the hell was happening to him.

But he was hoping to find that all out.

Wade – so … tell me more about you. Like, what kind of music do you like or what do you like to do in your free time?

Jack – nothing important … most people say I’m a boring person

Wade – well I may not be like most people … tell me?

Jack – I like classic music … hum … guns and knives … talk to my friend.

As you can see I’m not such an interesting person.

Wade – classic music … weapons … talk …yes … I think you are an interesting person.

Jack look at him with a frown.

Wade – well I think it’s fair to talk about me … let’s see … I like pop-rock music, to read a good book, I live alone and guess where I work?? … Here

Jack – I think that you are more interesting than me

Wade - don’t say that, not just because we don’t like the same things. Your problem is not about what you like but about your self-esteem.

Jack - Maybe.

Wade – you know …some people think that I’m boring too

- Jack makes a suspicious face –

It´s true, sometimes I tend to talk too much, I think it’s because I read too much, a lot of opinions.

Jack – ha!! I can’t believe it… the boring part

Wade – it’s true … as you can see you don’t have much too complain.

Jack smiles

Wade – well … I must tell that I happen to like guns too … well I read articles about it and books.

Jack – then you must have a favorite? Which one is it?

Wade – Mini Uzis

Jack – aaaah … easily rechargeable … shots at speed of light, really efficient given that it’s a machine pistol.

Wade (smiling) – woow… I’m impressed … what about you?

Jack – Desert eagle.

Wade – good choice … you can handle it with just one hand, different calibers, semi automatic, and mainly …

Jack – with just one shot well executed you can provide an immediate death.

Wade (smiling again) – exactly.

They were starting to get comfortable talking with each other, but then Wade’s boss stops their conversation.

Boss – Wade … enough of conversations and start telling them to leave so you can close the bar.

Wade – yes boss!!

Well it looks like I have to close the bar.

Jack – ok… then I will leave too, going to sleep and see if tomorrow I wake up early.

Wade – alright, come back again tomorrow too, only if you can of course … I liked talking to and I didn’t think you were boring at all.

Bye

Jack went home but he still didn’t know what he wanted to know. Now he had even more doubts and those feelings were getting stronger and Jack was starting to get eager to know the meaning of it.
