thirty one
Red, I thought as I stared blankly at the curtains that were covering the window, blocking out the sun completely and forcing me to lay in the dark, to only see the bright red beaming into the room, while my lips moved on their own as they kept mouthing the word over and over.
Mama liked to wear red on her lips, she always made sure her lips were covered perfectly in the colour.
Papa would bring home flowers to give to us, but Mama's flowers were always red, she said it was romantic.
Mama's favourite dress was also red.
Papa even had a matching red tie.
Red, my lips pulled down until they became a trembling frown, but my eyes still continued to look into the hypnotic colour with no emotion shining in them. As I thought about it more, maybe there was some emotion, maybe it was just sadness? The kind of sadness that you don't understand, that you don't know exactly what to do with it, because the more I engulfed myself into the colour, the more numb I became.
I tried to connect the colour to home, but the colour soon took up my thoughts as my eyes blurred and memories took over, but they weren't really memories instead they were pieces of something forming together.
They were thoughts that turned wild.
What else is red? I asked myself as I turned to lay on my back, looking up at the plain ceiling, isn't the colour red associated with fire? Blood is red. Anger is also red, or at least I think so.
I tried to imagine a boy, one with blond hair just like mine and blue eyes that not only matched Mama's, but they also were the same as mine.
Did he panic? I asked myself, Did he really want to attack Kaius or was it Mama that wanted him to?
Shaking the bad thoughts from my mind, I slowly lifted myself up and threw my legs over the side of the bed, making sure to pull my short nightgown down as I stood up.
Taking slow steps away from the bed, I walked in front of the closet door, pulling it open and entering it. The first thing I saw was a bunch of men's clothes, everything more on the dark side, I guess it suits Kaius.
I turned my head to see the other side, apparently it was my side and it was filled with women's clothes that were all kinds of different colours, but most of it was light and there was barely anything that was just black.
I can't complain, I thought, because I quite like wearing lighter clothing.
Spotting a light pink dress poking out, I reached out to feel the soft fabric and as soon as I was able see the front design of the dress, I fell in love with it. I took it into my hands as I giggled excitedly, "This is so cute!"
I went back to where the bed was and placed it on top of it, neatly moving it so that I could see the whole dress even though I was already in awe with the style. The long sleeves that flared out just a bit at the ends and grew longer so that it would look like it was falling towards the ground, however, the top did go down into the shape of a v, but I didn't mind it at all because the chest part was covered in lace, the entire dress made out of a soft and casual fabric. It was perfect.
I slipped it on over my head, pulling it down before I walked over to where Kaius had a mirror. Twirling as I examined the way I looked in the beautiful dress, it had distracted me so that I never noticed how the door to the room had creaked open on its own, but when I did my curiosity soared so high above my head that I decided to leave the room.
"Faith?" I called out into the hallway, "Are you out there?"
Wandering aimlessly around the place, I took an unfamiliar turn that led me straight to a flight of stairs that went down so far that it became dark at the bottom. I kept following them all the way till the end without breaking off to go on one of the many exits off of the stairs, but as I continued walking them I started to feel something creep up the back of my neck as if something was warning me to stop, I ignored it and kept going until the stairs stopped in front of a big door.
Twisting the knob and pushing on it, the door didn't open, it didn't even flinch, so I tried again, and kept on trying until I became irritated with it.
Growing annoyed, I kicked my foot at it as I mumbled through my frown, "Why won't you open?"
Sighing, I did it again but this time I pushed my body weight on it, practically throwing myself at it.
Thankfully, it flew open, but on the negative side I flew with it.
My hands landed down hard on grass with an 'ouch', but there was no pain once I realized that I was outside. Getting up from the ground, I dusted off the skirt of my dress and continued forward, as in towards the near forest.
I wandered into the forest, the trees engulfing me completely as my body disappeared into the crowd of healthy greenery while I started breathing in the smell of fresh air, a bright smile taking over my face.
This is all I've ever wanted.
My dream was short-lived once I felt a hand grab onto my arm, nails digging into my skin and another one shoving a piece of cloth over my mouth.
Black dots blurred my vision as I felt my body falling backwards and into someone's arms.
"Nice to see you again, Amoret."

Ahhh, I realized my update was beginning to get a bit later than what I wanted.
This is mostly a filler, sort of, because the ending is really the important part of this whole chapter.
I've been working on my new book, I got two chapters done so far, so I'll probably put it up when I get five done.
Enjoy!
