Stiles and I stood at the base of the Nemeton for the first time in ages. The forest around us was dark and hidden beneath a thin layer of fog. The trees didn't look the same as they once had, perhaps that was because time had taken a toll on this place just as it had done to us those many years ago.
I continued to glance around the woods, hoping it would calm my nerves until Scott finally arrived. There was a slight breeze making its way through the fog that caused the branches of long forgotten foliage to sway back and forth.
My long hair was hanging loosely past my shoulders, which made it easier for the wind to entangle itself in my curls. I smiled at the thought of how often this use to happen. This forest was once my sanctuary. The place I came to get a grip on all my racing thoughts. It is serving it's purpose once again.
As we waited, memories of the past continued to creep up on me. The first day I met Scott... He handed me a pen in class. Little did I know back then that he was a supernatural being.
The night of our Winter Formal... Scott told me he loved me for the first time.
But the one memory that wouldn't leave me alone, the one that caused me constant distress, comes from the night I broke up with Scott so long ago....
"Scott... I'm trying to break up with you." I said as we sat on my bed. It took all I had to fight back my tears but this was for the best. We both need time... I need time... I thought to myself as the guy I love stared into my eyes.
"It's okay." Scott answered in a sincere voice.
"How is that okay?" I said in disbelief.
He stared at me for a moment before he responded. "Because I can wait."
"I can't make you wait for me. I'm not going to do that." I said honestly.
"You don't have too... because I know we are going to be together." Scott answered. I stared at him for a second before my response left my lips. "There's no such thing as fate."
"There's no such thing as werewolves." Scott answered with a small smile.
That memory has haunted me for awhile now. After everything we had faced... was it really impossible for there to be fate?
My palms began to sweat as the butterflies in my stomach erupted to life. My nerves were finally getting the best of me. Stiles and I both have taken turns pacing back and forth while the other sat on the base of the Nemeton trunk. What could be taking him this long? I thought to myself.
"He will be here. You and I both know that." Stiles voice pulled me from my thoughts of worry. I gave him a small smile, "I know. I just- I don't know how much longer I can wait." I said with a sigh.
I've been waiting too long. I thought sadly.
"Allison, I know it's been hard lately, but he's coming. Just be patient." Stiles said with a laugh. "I guess it's the Hunter in me. I was never one to sit and wait." I giggled back.
Awe. The Hunter.
That part of my life had long passed. The fighting, the killing, the constant danger, all of it has been put behind me as I stumbled into my new existence. The freedom that came with putting everything in the past was phenomenal, but the huntress in me will never fully dissipate.
"How do you think he will react?" Stiles asked me quietly. "Its been awhile Ya know?".
I understood completely. It had been a long time since we've seen him and that was all about to change. "I'm not sure. I'm hoping he handles it as well as you and Lydia did." I said with a smile. Stiles chuckled a bit before opening his mouth to say something, but he was cut off by the deep ringing of a massive bell.
The bell was unable to be seen. It was as if it didn't really exist here... perhaps it honestly didn't. Of that, I couldn't be sure. Stiles and I went stiff and the sound echoed throughout the forest around us. The air seemed to still as the deep ringing continued on three more times. My stomach was in knots with my realization.
It's time.
Stiles slowly got to his feet and offered me a hand. I hesitated for a moment before letting him help me stand.
"Alright, I'm going to go find Lydia. You know where Scott will be... it's time to tell him." Stiles said with a small grin. I tried to return the smile but it never reached my eyes. I was too nervous to do much else.
"Allison, you have to go. Come find Lydia and I once you've had your moment." Stiles said with a wiggle of his eyebrow. This time a laughed and hit him playfully in the arm. "Thanks for waiting with me." I said before he pulled me into a hug. "Any time. Now go!" He said before pulling away from out embrace.
I watched as he walked off into the woods and disappear behind the layer of fog that had settled around us. I took a deep breath and turned to face the spot Scott would soon be standing. The place he was first bitten.
I let my eyes wander around the edge of the forest as the bell finished its final ring. Everything around me went silent for a short time. The foliage had stopped swaying, the breeze had dissipated to nothing, and the fog was at a complete standstill.
That was when I heard the cracking of branches a few feet in front of me. My breath had caught in my throat with anticipation, my body had become frozen with fear, and my eyes waited anxiously for a figure to appear.
The cracking of branches was almost within my line of sight. I could hear the footsteps just beyond the row of trees in front of me. And that's when I saw him.
His muscular body was standing a few feet away from me. His dark hair was ruffled out of places, his tattoo was still placed on the arm of his russet skin, he looked as he always had. My Scott.
I watched carefully as his eyes searched the area. Realization must have hit him quickly because he seemed to calm down almost instantly... that is, until his brown eyes found my own.
"Allison." He whispered. I gave him a small smile as he closed the distance between us.
"Hi Scott." I said in a gentle voice. He looked at me with disbelief, "If you're here...." He trailed off. I nodded my head in response. "You did well Scott. You always did." I said as I placed my hand on his cheek.
"I can't believe it. I've waited a lifetime to do this." He said before crashing his lips down on my own.
In that instant, an entire lifetime of waiting had evaporated. No longer could anything keep us from each other, not death, not life. In that fleeting moment our souls became one as our hearts found their way back to each other.
Scott and I pulled away from our kiss and he held me tight against his chest. "Still no such thing as fate?" He asked. I could almost hear the smirk in his voice.
I looked him in the eyes before answering, "Just as there's no such thing as werewolves." I answered before pulling him back into a kiss.
From there we continued into our eternity. Side by side. Just as it was always ment to be.
This is my first oneshot! I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it, so please, give me your opinions (: Scallison Forever! :D
