I should probably start with the story, so this won't drag on forever. I have things to do, too, you know.
Our story starts on the girl's fifteenth birthday. Poor girl. If it wasn't for that day she would have still been alive!
But yes, the fifteenth birthday. For the royal family, the daughters (or sons, but there are more daughters in the family somehow,) are allowed to go to the surface at the age of fifteen. This little mermaid was the youngest child, so she was able to hear all of the wonderous stories of what it looks like, life up on land. And, as all of these stories go, the girl fell in love with the idea of land.
On her fifteenth birthday, the girl got dressed up in her flowers and oyster shells. I saw her from afar. She really did shimmer in the light, like the townsfolk said. Oh, how I remember when I was her age!
But nevermind that. So yes, she went to the surface that night, and she saw what was there to see. And, naturally, the girl fell in love with the sight of everything on land.
And she loved it so much that she wanted to even be there.
When she was up there, there was a ship with the land's royal prince, soon to be king. From what I heard from the girl herself is that he was gorgeous. Although you do want to go for a man that's pretty, you also want a good personality. How do I know? Well, I've had my share in that.
And then it started raining. Pelting, even. And if there are humans reading this: if you think being out on the water in a boat while it rains is bad, imagine being under the ocean! If you're close to the surface, it's like it's a bullet attack!
Yes, it started raining. It turned out to be a terrible storm.
Let me set one thing straight before I continue my story: I don't care for the prince, or the royal family, or whoever else is involved. Only the girl. The little girl was the only person I truly cared about, and my Master ripped that away from me. So that's why you're reading this is a tone of guilt and sadness. I'm not just a chronically depressed person.
Now, let me continue:
The lightning hit the ship and the ship was starting to go down. It was such a shame. I swear that I'm not being sarcastic! I was going to save some of them, for the happiness of the girl, but it was too late!
But the lass had the kindest heart, and she did something extremely courageous.
The maiden saved the prince, like the kind soul she was raised to be. She took the prince to the shore and breathed life into him. Without her, the human would have drowned. Although, I don't think it makes sense why the humans
can't breathe under water. I mean, merpeople can breathe in air, so what's the difference?
Let's skip forward to later that night.
