"I'm an idiot."
"Yes, yes you are."
"Thanks for the words of encouragement."
"No problem."
Adam laid on his bed, his hands covering his face in shame. He'd never felt more stupid in his life than that very moment, "What do I do now? I totally failed." He groaned, "Tell him you wrote it?" Jaiden sat at his desk, slowly spinning in his chair. Adam shot up, "I can't do that! That's the whole reason why I wrote the letter!" he protested, "You're such a wuss." Jaiden purred, "You'd do the same thing." Adam growled, "Yeah probably, but it's funny coming from big tough Adam." Jaiden replied coolly, evoking a low groan from Adam. "Well, lucky for you I got him actually trying to find out who wrote it, so maybe I can steer him in the right direction." Jaiden slowly stopped spinning in Adam's chair, leaning back up against the desk. "He'd never suspect it was..." Adam trailed off, "A guy? Because he probably does." Jaiden cut in, "That's not what I was going to say..." Adam looked away, "Lying is wrong, Adam. Besides, don't worry about anything in that regard. I mean, have you seen James?" Adam focused back on Jaiden as she spoke, "What do you mean?" "Oh, I shouldn't continue, he'd be so mad at me." Jaiden smiled to herself, "Especially with...oh never mind, don't worry though, you're perfectly safe in that regard." Her grin grew wider and wider as she finished, causing Adam to feel his cheeks heat up a little. "Is James...?" He began, though Jaiden didn't answer him, all she did was shrug, still maintaining her unsettling grin. "You have a chance, is what I mean. So don't go-oh!" Jaiden suddenly jumped in her seat, pulling out her phone from under her thigh. "What's up?" Adam choked out, trying his best to maintain the butterflies that wouldn't stop fluttering around in his chest. If Jaiden spoke the truth, and he wasn't getting the wrong idea, then things were a lot better than he first thought they were. It felt extremely relieving, he really had a chance, that is if she wasn't just trying to soothe his nerves by leading him on like this. Though, Jaiden wasn't a liar, she can be a little tricky when it comes to these situations, but she's not a liar by any means. "Speak of the devil, it's James; he wants to see us at McDonalds." Jaiden spoke up, "Oh boy." Adam felt his stomach tighten even more, "Hey, this is your chance. Be yourself, be cool, and hint that you wrote it. Don't say too much though." Jaiden winked, standing up. "I can't do this." Adam stared at the floor, he was a mess just thinking about being in James's presence. "Where did Adam go? Because all I see right now is a big fat wuss sitting on his bed." Jaiden rested her hand on Adam's shoulder, "Come on, you can do it. You can't avoid him, he's your best friend. And if you do, he'll probably be pretty suspicious." Adam looked up at her, with a quiet sigh he finally submitted.

"Oh! There he is! In the back, as usual." Jaiden pointed in James's direction, Adam followed her closely, like a child clinging to their mother in a crowded area. She quickly leaned in to whisper in his ear, "Adam, it's fine, be a big strong boy. I'm sure you'll feel way better when you actually talk to him, James isn't intimidating, if anyone is you are." Adam looked at his hands as he followed her, why was he so nervous? No, he needs to be a big strong boy, big strong Adam. "I'm a big strong boy." He mumbled as he slid into the seat in front of James after Jaiden, "Hey guys." James smiled, "Huddled in the corner as usual?" Jaiden grinned, "Yep." James chirped, holding a small receipt. "Can you guys help me hear my order number? It's 253." James asked, "Sure." Adam nodded, Jaiden doing the same.

All was the same as it was before, Adam even began to relax a little. Jaiden was right, everything's fine. What was he so worried about anyways? It's James, literally the least harmful person he knows. That is, that's what he was thinking until James suddenly pulled out a letter. "You know Adam, I got this a couple days ago when I was sitting in the park. I didn't even notice anyone putting it next to me on the bench, it's so weird." James remarked, Adam felt a lump rise in his throat. He swallowed, "Really? How odd." James smiled, chuckling lightly, "Heheh, odd...sorry, but, here, look at it." James slid him the note, as Adam held it in his hands he couldn't help but feel himself growing more and more flustered with every word. Then, before he could comment, to his savior, one of the cashiers called out, "Order number 253!"
