eliza's pov
"oli, i'm really nervous." i chuckled awkwardly. oliver was sitting on my bed with me, helping me rehearse for auditions. we had become really good friends in the past month. actually, he was like my only friend here.
"you have no reason to be nervous. you're insanely talented. you're younger than most of the people here and they're not even half as talented as you."
"thanks, but I feel like you're just saying that to make me feel better."
"liza, i'm not. i've seen most of these people perform, and i've seen you perform. trust me, there's a big difference. it's just the way that you become the character so fully. it's like you're living in the fictional world. and your voice is just angelic, no one can do better than you."
"thanks." i blushed. "but you're not gonna be biased, right? i know you pick the cast, and i don't wanna get a certain part just because we're friends."
"if i were biased, august would be getting the lead and that's not happening because he has barely any emotion."
august was a fairly new actor. he was really attractive, but like oliver said he didn't have any emotion when performing. oliver had a huge crush on him, and it was obvious august liked him back, but he was really shy about it.
"true." i chuckled.
"if you truly deserve to be the lead, i can't not pick you."
"thanks. now help me again with this song."
"liza, you have it forwards and backwards. you're gonna do great." i put my head in my hands.
"i'm sorry, this is just a big deal and i'm so nervous."
"are you sure that you're nervous about this, and not something else?"
"what else would i be nervous about?
"liza, i've seen all those missed calls and texts from zach. why are you ignoring him?"
"why are you so nosy?" i retorted.
"don't change the subject."
"i need to focus on this musical. i'm not even a junior and i've already had this amazing opportunity. i can't mess around and have other priorities."
"zach isn't just some other priority." he put his hand on my shoulder.
"you know i didn't mean it like that. but if I even call him once, i won't be able to focus, he's just gonna be in my head constantly. and this is the time that i need to focus the most."
"so just send him a text. let him know that you still care, but that you need to focus. he'll understand."
"but-"
"i'm not helping you until you text him."
"oli."
"do it!" he demanded. i glared at him, but he didn't budge. i sighed and reached over to grab my phone.
