Grass, the sweet scent of morning dew was satisfying. A beautiful periwinkle blue painted the sky as birds chirped warm tunes. The oxygen from the oak tree outside danced to the soft wind guiding their steps. It felt like a dream. Wait-
A deafening sound beeped over and over again. It was the alarm on my bedside table. I groaned in tire and sluggishly reached my hand out in search of my glasses. Found them. I put them on and stretched my arms out in front of me. I felt like I was supposed to remember something, like today was an important day.
Oh, right... The first day of school. I dreaded the thought and grabbed my phone to see what the weather will be like later. It's rain. Just rain. And all week at that. How nice.
I slipped out of bed and to the bathroom I went. In the mirror was the face of a disaster. My hair looks like I had just gotten into a fight and my eyes drooped.
I thought, how am I going to fix this.
Instead of starting my morning routine, I picked up my phone and texted Jake and Ashton in the group chat we had set up.
Your normal weirdos -
Dee: GM, guys! Ready for the first day? :'D
Ashton: Haha, NOPE. You?
Jake: I actually am lol. Hbu?
Dee: There's no way in hell that I'm ready.
Jake: Yup, sounds like Dee.
Dee: I- shut up!
Ashton: He's not wrong :)
Jake: See? Even Ashton agrees XD
Dee: Oml you two
Ashton: I know, I'm fabulous ;)
Jake: Go get ready, Dee. Unless you'd want to relive the one time you woke up late and got to school blind again.
Ashton: Oh yeah, I remember that! Hah!
Dee: Hey, all I did was forget to bring my glasses! You both know I didn't get contacts until last month. Look, I'm gonna get ready now. I'll be out in about 30 mins Ashton! See ya guys <3
Jake: Lol, ok Dee. See you at school!
Ashton: Can't wait to see you guys both, BYEEE!
After brushing my teeth, I put in my contacts, and I changed into my rose patterned dress and put on a black cropped top hoodie over it, and to finish off this look, I paired it off with black stockings and combat boots. As for my hair, I decided to leave it down, and that's something I rarely ever do. Everyone's used to seeing my hair tied up, but when I do leave it down, eyes are drawn onto me, as if I've come from an alternate universe.
"Annyeonghaseyo, eomma," I said as I kissed my mother's cheek.
"Good morning, my child," she replied.
"Is dad at work?" I asked.
"He is. He'll pick you up after school, alright?"
"Yeah! I'm heading out so I'll see you until then!" I waved goodbye as I ran outside and there in the driveway, Ashton was in a snazzy white Honda car and in the driver seat was his older brother, Lynn McClain.
"Whoa, is this the cutie you've been telling me about, Ash?" Lynn asked.
I cringed as my mouth opened and let out, "Uhh... th-thank you? I think?"
