Rykka Lein was a just a small child when she lost everything she had. She lived with her parents on a planet in the alpha quadrant until the day of what she calls "the apocalypse".
During this time, the unknown planet was attack by Romulans. The Romulans were interesting for the high amount of dilithium within this planet but the inhabitants decided to fight against them for destroying one of their villages near the dilithium mine.
The fight was long and hard for both sides. They manage to destroy half of the population within the hours until the intervention of the Federation who manage de save them all.
In the battlefield, Rykka manage to escape the destruction of her house but at the cost of losing her parents who were both killed by the Romulans. A red shirt name Seth finds her all alone in the middle of the battlefield and decided to take care of the poor child.
*time skip – 10 years*
Rykka was with her adoptive father in San Francisco, on the planet Earth. One day, Seth decides to propose something that will change her life forever.
"Rykka? Can you please come here?" said Seth
"...Sure..." she replied shyly.
Rykka arrives in the kitchen where Seth was cooking dinner
"Since you always wanted to discover the world from above, has you call it all the time, I have decide to register you in Starfleet Academy."
She looks at him in the eyes and began to jump in the air full of joy
"Thank You father!" Seth smiles
"You're welcome. Your assignment will start in 2 months so, for now, enjoy yourself"
This night, Rykka couldn't sleep. She walks to the balcony and looks at the stars. The sky was clear and beautiful. She really existed about this news. She wonders for a long time thinking about her parents back then.
"Mom, Dad...I'm finally going to realize my dream..."
