Down, up.
Down, up.
Down, up.
One more.
Down, up.
Sweat dripped down my neck and ran down my back.
I grunted and let myself fall. I laid on the floor. What else would I have to do to make this team? Make everything I have ever wanted to come true? I slowly got up and walked outside and grabbed my stick, dumped the pucks and took a shot.
Bar down.
I let another snapshot loose and I missed the net.
I groaned and a wrist shot fly and I hit the top right corner of the net. I smirked and took a slap shot and it went bar south.
I hear clapping behind me. I turned to see my best friend Tyler smirking at me. I grinned. I hadn’t seen him in weeks. My family had recently moved into a town called Warman. The hockey center of Saskatchewan.
“Hello gorgeous!” he grinned and pulled me into a hug. I grabbed him and hugged him back. I took in his scent. I truly missed him.
“Hey babes,” I replied grinning. He smiled and then we were in a conversation about hockey.
“So are you really guaranteed a spot on the Bears?” he asked. The bears were a midget triple AAA team that I got asked to play on.
“Yes I am. I got another email about the time of the try outs and he specifically said; we are happy to have Jordan as a full time Bear.” I replied and then I showed him the email.
“I am proud of you babe!” he grinned and pulled me into another hug. I let him hug me for a few seconds and then pulled away.
“I truly am happy but I am not sure I want to billet. Mom said I had to if I wanted to play. I know I want to play and that is what want to do with my life but I am scared!’’ I opened up to Tyler. Billeting is basically when you have to stay at another person’s house for the entire hockey season. Saying I was scared was definitely an understatement, I was terrified.
“If you want it bad enough you will do it,” he replied.
“I will miss you a lot,” I whispered.
“I will miss you too, but you have to do this!” he exclaimed,” This is your dream.” I looked up and saw his deep blue eyes staring into my boring grey ones.
I heard a grunt from behind me. I turned around and saw my brother Dylan.
“Didn’t I tell you not to make a move on my sister,” he questioned. I scoffed and glared at him.
