"I've heard a great deal about you, Fa Mulan," the Emperor told her. "You stole your father's armor, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, deceived your commanding officer, dishonored the Chinese army, destroyed my temple... And you have saved us all."
That was a little over a year ago. To Mulan's knowledge, as well as everyone else's, it was still true. Shan Yu had died on the roof of the Emperor's Temple thanks to Mushu's fireworks display.
"The Emperor has requested that Mulan and Shang come to his Palace as soon as possible in the morning," Fa Zhou announced. "According to him, it's urgent."
"Did he say why?" Fa Li asked.
"He didn't want Mulan or Shang to know," the former soldier answered. "but it turns out that Shan Yu somehow survived his supposed ending. He's alive." He sighed in worry and took a sip of his tea.
"I thought he died on the roof-"
"We all did," Grandmother Fa interrupted. "All of the Huns died. I don't understand how Shan Yu-"
"How Shan Yu what?" Mulan asked, coming inside with Shang.
"Uh... How he survived the avalanche in the mountain," Grandmother lied.
Shang just raised an eyebrow. "Ooookay.... Anyway we should get going, Mulan. It's a long ride to the Imperial City." He looked at her family. "I'll have her back safe and sound." He bowed to them and walked out the front door.
Mulan looked back at her family. "We'll be back soon," she reassured them, following Shang out the door.
A/N: Not the best first chapter ever but I tried. Lol. I was bored and thought this out off the top of my head. I'd love feedback if possible. :3
