The teacher was already there and was arranging a stack papers on his desk with Marcus, a helping hand. Unbelievable. As we passed the his desk, the teacher spoke without looking from the stack of papers, "So,you are the new girl Mercy Janes, right?". I was not sure if I should be concerned or happy that I am drawing attention, he looked up, he was too young to be a teacher, with chestnut brown hair and blue eyes, don't tell me he is Stacey's relation. Trying not to look like an idiot, I answered, " Yes, sir".
He smiled, " just call me Than, sir sounds like I am a 60 yes old grandpa, take a seat. You really can't expect this from a TEACHER. By the time me and Gen reached our desk, Gen was giggling like a hysteric patient, she looked at me, " I don't think he is the teacher, he is too young for that". I just glared at her, then the young teacher or Than looked at the disorderly class, " Quite, back to your seats". He shouted at the top of his voice. " I am Thanatoes Mathew, you call me Than, your teacher Mrs. Janet had an emergency and wouldn't be here for the rest of the year, so I am your English teacher, feel free to ask anything". He gave a smile, damn the same movie star smile of Stacey. 'Am I struck with the Mathews?'. Lucy, a nonstop talker in my class asked playing with her escaped lock, " So, Than , are you Marcus Mathew's relation", again the movie star smile, the question was Lucy's but he answered staring at me,
" Yes, I am Marcus Mathew's big brother, now that's interesting light?", he said with one eyebrow up, his stare still fixed on me, many turned in their seats to look at me.' Huh, how much I wanted to just disappear', the same wicked grin appeared , he turned to Lucy , " OK ,let me give the list of books you guys would be reading this month". I was so glad to find that all the books were something I have already read and wanted to read. The class continued, I kept my mouth shut even though I was a active person when it comes to English. The bell rang and I was the first person to rush out of the class, I went straight to the canteen and placed my books on the table ,then I realized that I have rushed out of the class and didn't even wait for Gen. Gen came to me, " why did you ran out of the class?". I looked at her and rubbed my tummy lightly," I was hungry", I said like a child. We sat at our desk with or lunch. For some reason I didn't like the Mathews'. I saw Stacey running towards the canteen with full speed, " Oh, no its the Stacey kid", I said still looking out of the window, " Yeah, this means Marcus is gonna be irritated now", Gen said with a smile. Instead of going towards her brother she came towards us, " Hey, Mercy, seems like my bro is your tutor, huh". I frowned, " you knew it". Stacey smiled sheepishly, " Yeah! I knew..". "What?", me and Gen asked together. She giggled at our what-the-hell? expression, then she went to Marcus and dragged him towards us. As he neared us he grinned, "You have a thing for windows". Huh ,"Do you talk about anything else?",I asked irritated, just then Than came to us, " Mercy if did scared you back in class, I am sorry, you didn't need to run like that anyways", he said as he dragged his hand through his hair. Did I really ran out of the class, " Must be the first -day-phobia, didn't want to run, but can't help it , you were a xerox of Marcus when it comes to talking..he just irritated me on my first day", I signed. A wicked grin appeared on his face ,can it mean anything good?, NO." Are you upset about the curtain thing?", I started blankly, 'what the...' , I turned sharply at Gen, " You told Marcus is not a universal radio". She smiled sheepishly, I frowned at Marcus, "Cool Mercy. You know I am Marcus's bro, we share the same room, Marcus didn't tell, actually I saw you first, while you were relaxing with a book in your bed", so be it, " Damn, I badly need those curtains, don't you both spy at me once again, I will kill both myself if I know of it". Gen was the first one to laugh out loud enough to turn every bodies head in the canteen towards our table, "You have sneaky neighbours", she finally said controlling her laughter. "Yeah, I think so ", I said slowly nodding my head with a smile.
