We ended up eating almost everything off the menu before finally calling it quits. "Give me that right now, Collins!" My mom sternly said to the boy sitting across from me. He laughed and placed his credit card into the leather encasement for the bill. My mother huffed but stopped bugging him and he eventually handed our waitress the bill.
"So, Nadia and I have something we want to tell you guys-" Collins started to say with a serious tone. My heart dropped to my stomach and I slammed the heel of my foot onto his toes.
"Yes we do, we wanted to tell you guys that we got kicked out of the spelling bee." I said shrugging and Collins kicked me in the shin gently, "I didn't even know you were in the spelling bee." My mother said and Chloe cut me off before I could respond, "Yeah, Collins, you can barely even spell your own name." "It was one time!" He yelled and we laughed.
I shot him a glare as Chloe and my mother started talking. "We'll talk about this later." I sternly whispered and he rolled his eyes.
The waitress came back and he took his card and gave her a very large tip. We all got up and started to walk out but I grabbed Collins' hand, "I forgot my phone at the booth, Collins come help me search for it." I said and the other two continued outside to the cars while I pulled Collins back to the booth.
"What the hell were you thinking?" I asked and he shrugged, "I'm tired of hiding and sneaking around." He said slightly annoyed and my eyebrows raised involuntarily, "No, we are a team, we don't just release that kind of information without talking it over first." I said and I got out of the booth and stormed out.
"Found it, let's go, mom," I said feigning a smile and waving my phone in the air. I quickly got in the car and watched my mom and best friend share a weird look and then a hug before my mom came and got in the car. We talked on the way home and when we finally pulled into the garage I walked to my room and closed myself inside.
I kicked off my shoes and slammed myself face first into my pillow. I instantly felt my phone buzz in my hand, it was just a text at first and I ignored it, but then there were multiple texts. I checked the phone and it showed Collins' name. I ignored it and kept my head in my pillow. Then came many phone calls, more texts, and even snapchats.
I eventually gave in and accepted one of his phone calls, "Hey listen, I'm sorry I didn't mean to just spring that on you. It was wrong and I should've talked to you about it first." He blurted and I sighed, "Uh, huh." I agreed and he huffed and I heard him move stuff around, "I think we should take a break for a bit." I said and all sounds from his side of the phone call stopped, "Not forever but I mean, we aren't even anything too serious so it's not a big deal. In a few weeks or so we can try again but I don't like lying and sneaking around." I said and he just ended the call.
My chest felt tight and I was sad but I didn't want to cry, I didn't want to binge The Notebook, I didn't want to eat until I passed out. I kind of just wanted a nap.
I turned on Netflix and played a random movie; I changed into shorts and a T-shirt before climbing into bed and drifting off.
:::
When I awoke I wasn't alone, Chloe was sitting on the end of my bed eating fries and watching Netflix.
"Hey hun," I said sitting up and taking a few of the salty strips before getting up and stretching. "Have a good food nap?" She asked jokingly and I rolled my eyes.
"How long have you been here?" I asked and she laughed, "Long enough for me to hear you moan Tom Holland's name more than five times."
"It's not my fault he's hotter than the devil," I said and we both laughed and focused on the screen in front of us for a while. Towards the end of the movie we were watching, my mom knocked on my door and walked in, "You girls hungry? Want some food?" She asked and we both nodded, completely disregarding the McDonalds we just finished.
"Okay, come with me to go grab pizza." She said and we both groaned but got up anyways. I changed into jeans and just stayed in the T-shirt and Chloe borrowed a pair of my boots instead of her heels she wore over here.
We all clambered into the car and my mom blared music for Chloe and me to scream along to.
We eventually arrived at our local pizza restaurant and walked in. We walked up to the counter seeing as my mom already called in the order so we just had to pick it up. I looked around and stopped in my tracks when I saw Collins, Gavin, and Brandon all sitting in a booth in the corner. They were devouring pizzas and chugging liters of soda.
Collins and I made eye contact for a moment before I whipped around and faced the counter.
We eventually left and Chloe nor my mom saw the boys. We got back to my house, devoured our pizza, and Chloe ended up spending the night without any texts or calls from Collins who was obviously not even phased by me calling, whatever we were, quits.
