When you were small I built a foundation for you,
So you could stretch fearlessly tiptoe high
And take off soaring into the sky,
Knowing I would always be standing by.
And then I wove a nest for you,
And lined it with down of velvety soft,
With satin, bright red, you could see from aloft,
For landings safe, when you fell from your croft.
And now I've built a vessel for you,
Of sturdy timbers and sails so fair,
With anchor, not shackles to show my care
And you sailed away to the great somewhere.
You sailed and you flew, you reached and you grew,
Knowing I would always be there for you.
