Getting my way around school is a nuisance and that's because wherever I go, there is bound to be nasty comments like " Loser ! Can't you see that you are taking up too much space ?! Oops sorry, forgot that your tummy must have been blocking your view. " or " Get out of my way freak !! " and the list goes on.
Inwardly sighing, I ignore the snide comments and make my way towards the cafeteria, knowing that responding back would only make matters worse not to mention, giving them the satisfaction they want.
After picking out my choices of food, I set the tray down at my usual table alongside Daphne, my one and only best friend , who is already seated. Daphne is the only one here who is kind enough to befriend me on the first day of school and soon enough, we became best friends. This year is our 3rd year of friendship.
Coming from a family full of wealth, she isn't stuck up like most of the girls here. She mixes well with almost everyone including the in crowds with her bubbly personality, and also the fact that she is the president of the street dance club due to her heated passion for dancing. She has straight jet black hair that gracefully falls down to her waist and encircles her oval-shaped face. Her olive skin tone brings out her smooth yet clear complexion and also her high cheekbones. The dimples she has give her a childlike look that makes people can't help but adore her and she has the semi-puckered lips that most guys swoon over. When she smiles, which is quite often, her hazel eyes lit up and her pearly white teeth brightens up her whole face. Looking at my best friend, I can't help but envy her yet at the same time feeling amazed that such a wonderful person is actually willing to be my friend.
" Back to earth, Irene. Hello? Are you even listening to me? " says an angelic voice, snapping me out of my trail of thoughts and back to facing a pouting Daphne.
" Um yeah? Sorry, was thinking about some schoolwork ." I blush slightly, not wanting Daphne to know that I was admiring her beauty. That would be seriously awkward. Knowing her, she would probably tell me that each person has their own kind of beauty and that I am beautiful too, just that I didn't realize it yet. Yeah right, as if.
" Typical of you. Anyways, I was wondering if you wanna hang out with me at the dance club celebratory party. Winter holidays is around the corner you know, so you have lots of time to relax and prepare and I am not taking a no from you. " says Daphne with her eyebrows slightly raised.
" Nope. I am not going. Not even if you bribe me with pizzas and you know how much I love pizzas. " I say firmly and pause slightly before continuing. " I really don't want to ruin your party and I know how much time and effort you have put into for it to be held. "
