Alice opened her mouth in awe when she felt her body being pulled up.

Once in the small confinement of the old treehouse, the blurry image of her little brother hunched in the corner of the claustrophobic space, trembling, crossed her line of sight.

She lurched forward, hugging him against her chest as she glared at the faceless being before her.

"This isn't funny." She snapped. "If Adam put you up to this, then stop. I will call the police if you don't get out of my treehouse right now."

The Slenderman didn't budge, but his voice could be heard throughout the empty treehouse.

"I do not want to hurt you." It said.

It took Alice a moment to process the fact that the Slenderman had spoken despite not having lips.

It had been in her head.

"This isn't funny." She repeated.

The Slenderman crouched, far too close for comfort. Alice hid her face in her brother's hair, hoping when she opened her eyes, the Slenderman would be gone.

Instead, she felt fingers brush the top of her hand and looked up, shaking.

"I am here to help you." It spoke again.

"Help me what?" Alice responded.

The Slenderman turned Alice's head toward the window of the treehouse. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw what was laid out before her.

What had once been a beautiful suburban valley was now aflame. For as far as she could see, fire burned bright, illuminating the dark night.

"You understand now?" The Slenderman questioned.

"No." Alice whispered. "What happened? This must be a nightmare!"

The Slenderman shook its head and touched the back of her brother's head.

"I am not a killer. I do not kill. I save." It stated. "I save the children. The Chosen."

"Chosen for what?" Alice breathed, confused.

"To live in the new world. The new beginning."

Before she could respond to the Slenderman, it threw Alice and her brother on to its back as if they weighed nothing. Once back on the ground, Alice forced her hand over her brother's mouth to keep him from breathing in the toxic smoke. She could feel his warm tears soaking her hand as she rubbed his back comfortingly, eying the being beside her as he bowed at her feet.

She opened her mouth to ask it what it was doing, but the words soon fell dry in her mouth when she saw faceless beings, tailed by young children and teenagers alike, heading in their direction, walking through the fire and smoke as if it didn't affect them.

Once within a close enough proximity, Alice could make out her boyfriend and his sister not to far. She got ready to run, but the large crowd of Slenderman all bowed at once, the terrified children all watching in awe.

Alice crouched at her brother's side, touching his cheek and whispering reassuringly, but even those words never fully escaped her. All at once, the purple and grey sky dissipated into a bright blue, the white clouds riding so low Alice felt as though she could reach out and touch them.

"Alice." Her brother whimpered. She nodded, hugging him as the beautiful suburbia become a single multi story house, containing far too many rooms to count. It had the appearance of a hotel.

Ash soon started to fall from the sky. The Slenderman at Alice's side rose to his feet, towering over her as it crushed it into a powder. With a bow of it's head, they all simultaneously made a gesture toward the house.

"Where are we?" Alice whispered.

The Slenderman only responded with a few words, but they were words that would forever remain imprinted in Alice's mind.

"You are home."
