The Birthday Party

At 2 o'clock the guests started to arrive. First of all was Connor, Daddy's best friend, and his daughter, Summer, who was my best friend. Summer's mum, Erika, followed behind. She is pregnant, which means Summer is going to have a new baby brother or sister. Summer is almost a year younger than me, so she is still 5, although we are going to be in the same class at school. She gave me my birthday present and I put it down on the table to open it later.

Then the others started to get to the house. I have a really big family so there was a lot of people. They were all handing me presents! I love birthdays. Auntie Lilith turned on the stereo and everybody started to dance. I don't really like to dance because I don't like the attention, but I enjoy watching everyone else. I especially like to watch my cousins (ik they're not) Indigo and Violet, who are a couple of years older than me, dance because they do ballet lessons.

Then, before we knew it, it was time for me to blow out the candles. Daddy began to lift me up when I realised that mummy wasn't there to watch. I called for her, but no answer. I looked at dad and he looked worried but told me to blow them out anyway. I did as I was told because I didn't want to make a fuss whilst everyone was watching.

As soon as all my family started to clap and cheer, I tried to sneak through the crowds to go and look for mummy. Dad caught me though and pulled me back. He looked at me and said "Your mum has somewhere she needs to be for work, she'll be back soon." But he didn't look so sure so I didn't say anything. He told me to go and play with the other kids.

So I went to play with Summer, Nathan, Willow and Chase but the whole time I was wondering why mummy didn't want to be here for my birthday.
