My sis, Alli, wrote this for my birthday present. I think its really good! I have no clue if anyone on here even knows who Jin is, but oh well! Enjoy!
There are countless places that Akanishi Jin has been, but somehow this vast stretch of blue sky and edgeless rolling fields of South Georgia- a place he had never imagined himself- became the most important place in the entire world.
----
He had escaped his managers again. His cell phone was turned off and tossed in the back seat of his rental car. He knew what they were going to say -nay yell- and he didn’t want to hear it. Music blasted out of the car’s stereo system as he cruised through the flat Georgia countryside fleeing Atlanta where he had been checking out the venue for a possible concert.
“Sunny Florida, here I come,” he grinned around his dying cigarette.
He took one last drag, and then tossed the smoldering butt out the open window. Jin reached for his pack and tapped it on his thigh.
“Damn it. I’m out,” he glanced at the gas gauge. The white line sat firmly upon a threatening E. “Fucking hell.”
Jin turned in to the nearest gas station, a Flash Foods in some little town called Baxley. He ran a hand through his long, loose hair, cursing the Georgia heat as he pumped gas into his cherry red rental. This place was Small Town, USA with more of a redneck flair added by the pickup trucks with the Confederate decals, but other than that it wasn’t bad. It definitely wasn’t Atlanta or L.A. or Tokyo and that was all he wanted at the moment.
After the car finished filling up with a click, he ran inside to buy a pack of cigarettes and maybe to ask directions to some place to eat that wasn’t fast food. The overweight woman behind the counter barely stopped talking to some off duty cop to sell him his cigarettes, so he gave up on those directions. Hardees’s it is.
Jin headed back to his car, already ripping at the carton, when he noticed a girl attempting to unscrew the gas cap off her white convertible.
“Damn it! Why won’t you turn?” She yelled through gritted teeth as she fought with the stubborn cap, looking ten seconds away from kicking the poor Mustang.
“Let me try.” It was out Jin’s mouth before his brain even registered it. He blamed his mother.
“Thanks,” she said, nervously stepping aside as she pushed a light brown strand out of her eyes.
Jin gave it one hard turn and then the cap came off with a pop.
“There you go.” He wiped off his hands on his jeans and stepped aside to let her put the hose in.
“Thank you so much. I didn’t think I’d ever get that thing off.” She had a Southern drawl that Jin found strangely cute.
“No problem,” he waved it off and started to get in his car.
“Wait,” she called out, “I mean… You’re Akanishi Jin, aren’t you?”
“I wasn’t expecting anyone to recognize me here,” he said sheepishly, turning back to her.
“I’m actually a fan. I’m Courtney by the way,” she smiled and held out a small hand adorned with only a simple silver ring and, for some reason, Jin felt that he could trust her.
He met her smile and said, “Nice to meet you, Courtney,” giving her hand a warm shake.
As their eyes locked, they both felt the world start changing.
----
“Jin! There you are,” called a voice from behind him.
“Papa!” a toddler plowed into Jin’s leg and gripped it tightly, leaving red clay handprints on his jeans.
“Come here.” He grabbed the squirming little boy and tossed him giggling into the air before holding him tight, breathing the scent of the earth and his home buried in the child’s steady darkening locks.
“What are you doing out here?” Courtney asked wrapping an arm around Jin’s waist and sighing contently.
“Just thinking,” he answered ticking the boy’s belly.
“That’s a first,” she joked as she tapped both her husband and son on the nose making them both smile.
“That’s all a part of my charm.” He grinned as the sun began to sink lower on the endless stretch of his whole world.
-End-
Thank you Alli! Totally cute, but I doubt Jin would ever end up in Baxley! lol! Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! Best 18th birthday present ever!!
